Everyone overeats from time to time. Binge eating disorder is different, though. You might have it if you regularly eat a lot of food in just a few hours -- even when you're not hungry -- to drown out emotions. Then you quickly feel shame or guilt about it.
People with binge eating disorder often feel out of control and eat a large amount of food at one time (called a binge)
Binge eating disorder is a serious health problem, but people with binge eating disorder can get better with treatment.
Overeating is different from Binge Eating

General examples of overeating are:
Having more than one dessert after dinner
Finishing a whole bag of popcorn while watching a movie
When you eat too much because of a stressful event such as a romantic breakup, it's sometimes called "emotional eating."
Examples of binge eating are:

• Keep a food diary. It will help you learn when you tend to binge
• Eat regular meals and snacks throughout the day. They'll keep your blood sugar steady, so you won't feel hungry enough to binge.

▪︎ Interpersonal psychotherapy : This is based on the idea that binge eating is a coping mechanism for unresolved personal problems such as grief, relationship conflicts, significant life changes
▪︎ Dialectical behavior therapy : views binge eating as an emotional reaction to negative experiences that the person has no other way of coping with.
▪︎ Weight loss therapy: Behavioral weight loss therapy aims to help people lose weight, which may reduce binge eating behavior by improving self-esteem and body image.

Available treatments include Antidepressants, antiepileptic drugs like topiramate, and drugs traditionally used for hyperactive disorders, such as lisdexamfetamine
