STEMng Digest: The grass is not always greener on the other side

A man who always quarrel with his wife decided to report the wife to his neighbor one day. The neighbor also has a wife, but you will never see them quarreling. At least not openly.

He felt perhaps if he reports his wife to this neighbor, he will be able to give him the code he has been using to have a peaceful coexistence with his wife. He was about to knock on the door of his neighbor when he heard some scuffles from inside.

The neighbor and his wife were having a fight, but in such a way that no one outside will know. Is this the same neighbor he's going to seek advice from? Indeed, the grass is not always greener on the other side.

A little tribute to those who are desperate to find greener pastures outside the shores of their countries. A word, they say, is enough for the wise.

Welcome to a new edition of STEMng Digest.

Who are we?

STEMng is the Nigerian sub-community of the stemsocial community, a community that has been supporting stem authors on the hive blockchain for about four years now. While stemsocial focuses on everyone irrespective of their country, STEMng is specifically for Nigerians. The best stem contents published by Nigerians on the Hive blockchain are highlighted weekly.

Below are the posts that made it into our digest for this week:

  1. @cyprianj: Original Research : Parasitological Assessment of Green Leafy Vegetables Sold at Masaka and Karu Markets in Nasarawa State of Nigeria -1

This week opens with a banging article. It is an original research conducted by one of the scientists in our community. The research assessed some vegetables purchased from a local market here in Nigeria for potential parasites. Guess what? They found many parasites that could threaten human lives if the vegetables are consumed without proper cooking. Read the article to understand more.

2.@alidickson: RECENT BREAKTHROUGH IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF ORAL INSULIN TABLET

Diabetes is an abnormality that is common in our society and one of they key management practices is the injection of insulin. Insulin vials are usually stored carefully at cold temperature. In this article, the author discussed the efforts that are being made to make insulin available in oral tablets instead of only injections. This would be a massive one in the management of diabetes.

3.@oluwatobiloba: When Normal Menstrual Cycle come off as Abnormal.

Next in line is a post about women's health. Every normal woman from puberty age experiences a monthly flow of blood known as menstruation. This phenomenon follows a cycle. In this post, the author discusses a situation in which the cycle becomes broken. Abnormal menses is something that is actually more common than anyone can think.

4.@eni-ola: Hematology || Polycythemia - The Increase in Erythrocyte

Next is a bloody article - an article that talks about blood. What is more common around us is people requiring blood transfusion due to inadequate blood in their systems. In this article, the author discusses the opposite. Too much blood, a condition known as polycythemia. What causes this condition, the variations that exist, and the way out? Read the interesting post to get you curiosity satisfied.

5.@ebingo: Physical symptoms of Anxiety (A Twitter Reaction Post)

Anxiety is something that we all must have felt at some points in our life. However, not many of us can pinpoint the exact symptoms of this condition. In his article, our medical doctor discussed the physical symptoms that are likely to be associated with anxiety. A rally educative piece that everyone should read.

And that ends our selections for this week. Do not forget to give the featured posts/authors your maximum support. Thank you in advance.
