STEMng: Justice is a must, if peace is our focus

in StemSociallast year
Authored by @gentleshaid

Many people are fixated with the idea of peace, but peace is attained through being just to everyone. In the same vein, many people just move around with the idea of justice without actually living it.

We can arrogate power, subdue dissenting voices, crush oppositions, and oppress the powerless. However, if genuine peace is what we want in this world, we should be ready to shed blood, even if it requires ours, in order to maintain justice.

Welcome to a new edition of STEMng Digest.

Who are we?

STEMng is the Nigerian sub-community of the stemsocial community, a community that has been supporting stem authors on the hive blockchain for about four years now. While stemsocial focuses on everyone irrespective of their country, STEMng is specifically for Nigerians. The best stem contents published by Nigerians on the Hive blockchain are highlighted weekly.

Below are the posts that made it into our digest for this week:

The Reality of Malaria Drug 'Hydroxychloroquine' and COVID-19 Treatment (Beyond Hype)
There were many self-acclaimed solutions to covid19 when the disease was at its peak. However, very few of these solutions made it to the mainstream media, and extremely few of these passed scientific tests. One of those drugs touted to be effective against the virus is hydroxychloroquine. However, the claim was later retracted due to unanticipated in-vivo effects. What else was up with hydroxychloroquine? Read the post to get educated.1.@thomisin:

What You Think About Body Odor is Completely Wrong
Body odor is something that no one wishes on themselves, especially in this part of the world. There exist many myths and misbelieves about body odor, especially as it relates to body sweats. This post serves in part to debunk some of the myths as well as educate about what is scientifically plausible. Makes for a good read for those willing to learn.2.@busted1:

African Fitness Influencers And Steroid Use
What is a STEMng digest without a dose of fitness article? We are talking about steroids this time. Many body builders resort to using steroidal drugs in order to boost their results. While this may not be morally bad (although medically bad), attributing the result to "African genetics" by African fitness influencers put other African men under pressure. A good read for the fitness enthusiasts.3.@ebingo:

Why You are Finding it Hard to Fall Asleep Every Night
Gather here if insomnia is your friend. Here is a post addressing the plausible reasons for your sleeplessness. Not getting enough night sleep could some really unpleasant consequences both in the short and long term. Read the article, pick those that are applicable to you, and look for ways to make amends. Have a sleepful night.4.@ireti:

The Intriguing Correlation Between Height and Lifespan)

Are you taller than your friends? If yes, do you know that you are more likely to die before them, provided you are all of similar age? If all these assertions sound weird to you, then you need to read this article that claims that there exist some kind of correlations between height and life span of humans. Quite an interesting one, I must admit.5.@eni-ola:
