Últimamente esto me ocurre muy seguido, me encuentro haciendo las cosas más normales del mundo, como pasear por la ciudad y ver a la gente pasar cuando de pronto sucede, todo pierde el color y mi cuerpo se queda inmóvil hasta quedar helado, el suelo en el que estoy de pie se parte como si fuera de cristal y caigo en un abismo infinito repleto de oscuridad…
El susto que me llevo al despertar de esa pesadilla me deja muy desorientado, casi olvido que estoy ocupado haciendo algo importante.
Soy detective y me encuentro investigando un caso bastante inusual en esta localidad. Todo esto comenzó con una chica que desapareció un par de semanas atrás, al principio creí que sería un típico caso de secuestro y/o homicidio, pero las cosas se tornaron extrañas cuando la actividad inusual de un culto religioso también llamo la atención de la policía.

I am a detective and I am investigating a rather unusual case in this town. This all started with a girl who disappeared a couple of weeks ago, at first I thought it would be a typical kidnapping and/or homicide case, but things got strange when the unusual activity of a religious cult also caught the attention of the police.

Los he visto en los tribunales, no me lo explico, pero esas personas ya no actúan como seres humanos, habían perdido la razón, ahora solo quieren ver el mundo arden, o eso supongo.
Lo que me inquieta de ese tipo de personas es que pueden estar en todas partes, al parecer la locura puede propagarse como una plaga. Por más que pongamos a esos dementes tras las rejas, siguen apareciendo más.
No se puede razonar con gente tan perdida, solo se les puede detener para siempre. Pero en este mundo no hay forma de deshacerse del caos que puede lograr la locura, porque es un daño colateral inevitable y sin precedentes.

I heard a rumor that strange people were gathering in the old cemetery in the wee hours of the morning, but then these so-called fanatics showed up: some people causing a ruckus like an angry mob. They call themselves the cult of Prometheus. They gathered in the slums to set fires for reasons I still don't understand.
I don't think there is any point in understanding, they are a bunch of pyromantic lunatics. Many innocent families were reduced to ashes and all they did was laugh at the interrogations.
I have seen them in court, I can't explain it, but these people no longer act like human beings, they have lost their reason, now they just want to see the world burn, or so I suppose.
What worries me about that kind of people is that they can be everywhere, apparently madness can spread like a plague. No matter how many of these madmen we put behind bars, more keep popping up.
You can't reason with people so lost, you can only detain them forever. But in this world there is no way to get rid of the chaos that madness can achieve, because it is inevitable and unprecedented collateral damage.
En mi profesión se tienden a escuchar rumores de todo tipo, y mi trabajo es aclarar las dudas. Pero he escuchado cosas imposibles de comprender.
Un día el forense encontró un cadáver detrás de un bar de mala muerte, lo que llamo la atención fue la curiosa condición en la que yacía el cuerpo tirado en el suelo.
Cuando llegue al lugar de los hechos, ya lo estaban trasportando a la morgue. Una aparente victima de quemaduras que tuvo mala suerte., fue severamente carbonizada hasta los huesos. Algo espantoso y abominable.
Con la ayuda del equipo forense no tenía nada de lo cual preocuparme, así que solo procedí a averiguar que le había pasado interrogando a varios testigos en la escena del crimen…
Pero algo me llamo la atención, es normal que la gente este en Shock tras ver un cuerpo sin vida, pero la mujer que le reporto el cuerpo a la policía estaba catatónica, no había forma de comunicarme con ella.
Algo no estaba bien entre los miembros de investigación del equipo forense, todos actuaban con inquietud y nerviosismo, como si estuvieran sumidos en un estado de intranquilidad… Desde hace algunos días, tras los altercados del Culto de Prometeo se han circulado rumores de cosas sobrenaturales: Cosas como personas convertidas en cenizas tras brotarles fuego como por arte de magia.
Estupideces mórbidas sin sentido como esas solo causan molestias, es ilógico y absurdo. En casos como estos, pensar en cosas fantasiosas es una pérdida de tiempo. Es obvio lo que sucede, los maniáticos están infundiendo miedo solo por diversión.
Es algo despreciable y detestable, pero tenía que mantener la cabeza fría.
Mientras inspeccionaba la zona en la que se encontró el cuerpo, recibí un reporte que alertaba que hay personas sospechosas reunidas en el viejo hospicio abandonado. Por lo que tome mis cosas y con todas las unidades que me acompañaban procedí irme de inmediato.

Corrí rápidamente hacia donde estaban para enterarme de lo que estaba ocurriendo.
Pero luego hubo un repentino silencio…
Cuando llegue al pasillo, el cuerpo de policías habían sido eliminados por razones desconocidas y yo quede completamente solo…
El pánico se apodero de mi hasta nublar mi juicio, el miedo me hacia transpirar a mares y no podía dejar de temblar, sentía que las piernas me iban a fallar. No podía pensar, solo quería escapar.
Corrí tan lejos sin dirección hasta donde pude llegar, tras caer al suelo, tuve que arrastrarme en busca de una salida…
Ahí lo vi… Me encontré cara a cara con la manifestación de todo lo que rechazaba, todo lo que ignoraba y lo que me temía. Era un hombre envuelto en llamas cuya carne fue consumida hasta los huesos, sus cuencas brillaban como llamas infernales mientras me veía directamente…
El aire se volvió sofocante y todo lo que veía perdió su color, se volvió grisáceo como las cenizas. Yo estaba inmovilizado y sentía como poco a poco me quemaba por dentro… Esa experiencia se sintió como una eternidad.
Pero termino cuando el ente que tenía delante de mi extinguió sus llamas para posteriormente desaparecer al convertirse en motas de polvo…

Everyone was dead and there was no apparent explanation, it was several minutes of a constant bad feeling until I heard a scream at the end of the corridor.
The special forces panicked, I could hear them from a distance. They were all firing their rifles as if defending their own lives.

But then there was a sudden silence....
When I reached the corridor, the police corps had been eliminated for unknown reasons and I was left all alone....
Panic took hold of me until it clouded my judgment, fear made me sweat profusely and I couldn't stop shaking, I felt that my legs were going to fail me. I couldn't think, I just wanted to escape.
I ran so far without direction as far as I could go, after falling to the ground, I had to crawl in search of an exit....
There I saw it... I came face to face with the manifestation of all that I rejected, all that I ignored and all that I feared. It was a man engulfed in flames whose flesh was consumed to the bone, his sockets glowing like infernal flames as he looked straight at me....
The air became suffocating and everything I saw lost its color, it became grayish like ashes. I was immobilized and felt myself slowly burning inside... That experience felt like an eternity.
But it ended when the entity in front of me extinguished its flames to later disappear when it turned into specks of dust...
Horas después, el equipo médico me llevo a la comisaria. El forense estaba investigando la escena del crimen y yo era el único testigo…
Pero mi mente estaba por así decirlo “indispuesta” porque la realidad en la que me acostumbre a vivir se cayó a pedazos.
Solo espero poder despertar de esta pesadilla en cualquier momento.
