Taking Coco for a walk is a real tonic after work

in Hive Pets2 years ago (edited)

There are pros and cons to just about everything in life for the most part. We opted to live in the countryside in Galway, meaning that no shops or restaurants are within a short walk - well it's twenty minutes, so not the worst I guess. So that goes down as a con, but for every con there are more pros and one of my favourite pros are the many walks near our house and most especially the walk down to the lake which I especially like going on and so does a certain Miss Coco, our little Puppy and recently the middle aged of our three boys likes to join us too.

Down By the lake

The lake is around 1 mile or so away, so we walk around and then let Coco off the leash to have a run around, a sniff, a poke, a swim and a few more sniffs and then an almighty shake when she comes out, you better not get too close to her for that though!

Nothing like coming downstairs after a hard day's work and start saying walkies to Coco and getting her leash, she gets beyond excited knowing what is coming, she lives for her walks, God bless her. I'm not sure who likes the walks more, her or me, but no doubt the walk and fresh air are good for both of us. Here are a few snaps from today's walk.

Donkeys

Look who we happened upon on the way back to the house and who doesn't love a donkey, there's just something infinitely likable about them. These guys came running up from the bottom of their field to greet us and Coco was unsure at first, but quickly they became short term besties.

She is always a bit funny meeting other animals, but once she gets used to them, she gets nice and friendly and can't get enough of them. We meet lots of neighbour's dogs on our walks and the vast majority are nice and friendly.

She is still quite bad for dragging you along when you walk her, but I shorten the leash when she does that, but it does not really do much, she still drags, even though she sounds like she is choking herself. Hopefully she will eventually learn to walk alongside me/us. There are a few places that I can let her off the leash, but it is a bendy country road, so I am always afraid that she will get hit by a car, as she has no road sense yet, and would be liable to jump on front of a car, if she was off the lead. Here she is with her ne donkey friends this evening!

And while we are on the subject of donkeys, let me give ye all a good auld laugh, an Irish donkey derby from 1994. It's funny, cringey and hilariously early 90s Ireland. It's well worth a look, but maybe start it at 4 minutes when the race starts. Let me know what ya think below. 😆😅

Thanks as always for stopping by everyone.

Peace Out

Woah seems like Coco enjoyed the walk very much as she goes have fun in water and meet donkey. I never had seen donkey in person actually, the first time I get curious about them is the story of Pinocchio haha.

Ya she loves a good swim and a walk, Springer Spaniels have loads and Loads and LOADS of energy to burn off!

Ya the video is some laugh, your man is so funny the way he commentates and can't stop laughing himself when the donkey brings Ciaran into the bushes and then the donkeys getting frisky at the end.. 😄😄
