You'd never believe that Duncan and Chester were both supposed to be "only cats" according to the adoption agencies we got them from.
Duncan came to us traumatised by abuse and had never been socialised. Chester had been bullied by the other cat in his former house; the owners were heartbroken to let him go, but knew it was what was best for him.
Now look at them !
The two of them are completely inseparable and are totally in love with each other. They sometimes play fight, but never once in all the time we've had them have they fought seriously or even hissed at each other.
They also plot against us terribly. They carefully time it so that one scrounges snacks, then the other appears just as they are finished, so we have to give both of them snacks to appear to be fair. But I worked out they actually take it in turns pulling the scam, so each ends up with the same amount of snacks and more than they'd have got if they both appeared at the same time.
What we didn't catch in these photos is that Duncan was asleep on the bed, then Chester popped up and started grooming him before they both settled down together.
Duncan's looking extra handsome today, because we took him to "the ladies", the groomers we use. He had a bit of a cat spa-day, and came back much happier now they'd dealt with a few knots in his fur that he couldn't get to.
This last photo is Chester, sitting on a stock delivery being King of the Castle. Or as he likes to think of it... supervising his staff. He's the deputy-boss around here, and Duncan (of course) just knows he's really the managing director.

Thank you ! Chester loves being groomed, Duncan loves having his head and back groomed, but is a bit spiky if anyone tries to touch his underside 😀
But yeah, the chonkiness is getting to be a bit of a problem, they both love their food a bit too much and don't like that they're having to go on a diet....
