Hello friends, on this day I want to bring you a little story kinda curious and sad. It's about the time I got to have a pet squirrel.

It was all around July of last year, that day my mom was working at home and she went in her bicycle. The thing happens when she came back to the house, on the way she saw a squirrel lying on a sidewalk, and she felt very moved and then decided to bring it to the house. I remember that when we all saw it we died of tenderness and curiosity, it was the first time I saw a squirrel up close and could touch it. The truth is that it looks like a kind of rat but with a very cute tail😂😂

It was very small, was still a baby, so we couldn't feed him carelessly with anything. My stepfather ended up doing a lot of research on how to raise and feed him, basically it had to be given milk but especially warm, like any baby hahahaha.

The milk was provided by means of a syringe, it was pressed little by little with the thumb so that the liquid came out of little by step. At first for a couple of days, the squirrel did not feel like wanting to drink milk at that time, which worried us for a moment until we saw him drinking and we died of tenderness too.

Everything was going very well, and honestly the one who took care of him the most was my stepfather. Regarding where he slept, a shoe box was adapted where we put a towell and under it was put a device that regulated the temperature so that the little squirrel did not get cold, it was very comfortable. The first week he barely try to move or being more active, I guess it was still scared. Something I loved so much was how he lulled into my hand and fell asleep.

My mom decided to call him Franky and so he stayed with that name, nobody objected about it. He soon began to gain more confidence to move and climbed on our arms to lift our shoulder.

Franky had a funny habit that was pissing on your hand😂😂😂, the funniest thing of all is that he never pissed me, only my stepfather and my younger stepbrother, and I think once my mom. It climbed up to your neck and tickled a lot for its small claws.

Little by little we released him to get on the sofa or let him move on the kitchen counter, but he was very hyperactive and ended up jumping and falling to the floor, thank God he didn't get hurt but we got scared many times because of it 😅. When he stayed on the sofa he literally got on rodent mode, climbing and moving through all that and went down alone to the floor. Several times in my care I ended up looking for him because he got lost at times under the furniture, it was something annoying but at the same time fun.

When I was lying on my mattress, which a detail to highlight is that I sleep on the floor of the living room, sometimes I stayed playing with Franky for a while and suddenly he just went down to stay on top of my foot awww, I took a very cute photo of that moment❤️

Getting to the final topic and that is, how did he end up dying?

Starting first with the fact that I was not present at that time.😞

We had barely completed a little more than a month with Franky, and I, at that time went to stay at a friend's house outside the city for a few days. Suddenly my mom called me she sounded sad and was crying about how the squirrel had died and my heart just broke and I cried in reaction. Telling me the details, she explained that apparently for a moment when they were wanting to feed him, Franky looked quite down and didn't want to eat anything, and so throughout the day, he was increasingly off so they took him quickly to a veterinarian for emergency, and what they diagnosed was that he had ingested a small piece of cheese to which the salt ended up inflaming the trachea until he suffocated and died.

So far it is not known if it was really an accident or out of curiosity and ignorance they wanted to feed him a little with it, one thing that is for sure, is that my mom had nothing to do with it because she was always against giving things to the squirrel just for experimenting. The reality is that by then Franky was already eating pieces of carrot or some seeds, and everything was fine, so I would assume that it was an accident without wanting to.

This was the story of Franky the energetic baby squirrel. No doubt I will always have him in my heart, he brought us joy while he was with us, I would have liked to see him grow up as beautiful as he was, but I just hope he rests in peace😞🙏🙏

If you have any questions, anecdotes or curious facts about squirrels I would like to know them, and you have ever had a squirrel?_____________________________________
