Caturday... on SUNDAY... with Mr. Grey the Stray...

in Hive Pets3 years ago (edited)

As usual... I was a bit mixed up about what day it is/was ever since I became an 'official' Senior Citizen, with no 2022 calendar to check, encroaching senility, possible covid damaged brain cells and a host of other stuff I'm sure enters the increasing cognitive decline - like hallucinogenic drug experimentation in my younger Hippie days...😵

Here's a picture of one of my many straycat friends who visit on a daily basis. I call him Greystone or Mr. Grey or sometimes, simply Little Boy or Baby Boy; don't ask why, because I really don't know...?!?!?!?

Look how dirty the poor bays paws are in this picture. He must be feeling a little depressed and not concerned about his grooming lately? Usually, he keeps himself so clean, that you'd be fooled into thinking he's a house pet, rather than an abandoned or lost homeless feline.

Actually, he's not homeless, because he's always welcome to stay at my house for as long as he wants... ever since I spotted him sleeping in the flower-pot atop the railing of my back porch, over two years ago.

I've had quite a few little kitties climb into that planter; it must be comfortable? Maybe I'll lay in it myself one day to find out...?!?!?!?!?

ANYWAYzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

Not much else has been happening around here to shout about... life has been comfortably boring these days. When you're my age, retired and mostly sitting back, looking over your life in memories... you get enough smiles from out of the mist, pleasing the senses😎 Enough so, that it keeps you from wanting to jump in front of a speeding bus on a rain soaked highway...

Well, my friends... that's about all I got for now. Till next time, I hope the smiles pile up within your spongy-matter for future recall.

Ciao

It is moments from the past that help me keep going on. Cats, I don't know of any Cat that has only one name other than manorvillmikes cats, and I would bet even his whole brood have several names.

Yes... manorvillemike ... he has quite a few felines, doesn't he? I've got about 'seven' now visiting me; three are kittens😎 The two newest (sort of blonde) I suspect are brother and sister...??? They're getting a little more trusting of me now - I can briefly pet them, as long as I've just handed them some fresh, raw meat.

Those dirty paws means he's been wandering. Remind me of my boy Toffee. He was so dirty when he first moved in it took weeks to see that he,has a white chest. And yes, all cats should have a couple of names

Spring has sprung here, so I suspect he's being lured by the scent of a woman...??? 😍Hi @nikv... Yes, I suspect he's been wandering lately, even though he's been spending more time at my house than usual, sleeping. Probably in need of extra rest from his adventuring?

You mean you haven't had him neutered?

It seems like cats are somehow wired to get inside containers and boxes. Whenever I would buy something that came in a box, as soon as I removed the item Gem would immediately jump into the empty box.

Yes... It does seem as though most cats love to play, hide and sleep inside of box-like structures. It's fun to watch them do such things.

Here is a photo of Gem sleeping in a USPS box that is sitting sideways. You can see the bubble wrap and packing tissue that she is partially laying on.

So cute... How long has it been since she passed away? Have you considered adopting another little Gem to share your boxes with...???

It's been 8-9 years. Adopting isn't something I want to take on at this point in my life. Though it is tempting sometimes. Recently a Facebook friend was trying to find a home for a kitten and ignoring the opportunity was a bit painful for me.

I understand... I've taken to helping homeless cats out in various ways and contributing to local animal welfare orgs. instead of bonding too closely with any by considering them "my" pet and taking on 'that' responsibility with increased heartache when things go wrong. At my age now, I'm more inclined to foster one while helping to find a permanent home for them; especially old ones that are harder to place by shelters.

The kitty planter bed, jammed with a furball is making me smile. I won't jump in front of a bus, on a rain soaked highway now, because of this. Thanks.😊

Instead of a "Flower Bed", I have a Planter Bed so it seems...😏 One day, I should post all the shots I have of different cats sleeping in that pot. I've missed a few, because they jumped out upon hearing my backdoor opening.

I'm so happy that photo kept you from dark thoughts of personal demise @carolynstahl...

I eagerly await those other pot sleepers!

If you water the cats in your planter, do you grow pussy willows? 🐾🐈🌾🐾

Thanks for stopping by @ninahaskin. Haha... "pussy willows"... That's funny 😎 You obviously have 'Quick wit'; something I find quite refreshing, especially these days of global chaos.

Stop by again sometime Nina. It's always nice to read you.

Sleeping on the flower pot. Hahaha it's so adorable 😍😻😻😻

I'm happy that you liked the photo @itsmiessyonpeakd and thank you for letting me know it made you smile😎
