Yesterday, December 15, Kat turned 5. Kat is our neighbor's indoor pet goat, and we had a banana split birthday to celebrate!
Our neighbors said Kat loves bananas and invited us over for a banana inspired birthday party for the girl! Everyone was encouraged to dress in yellow to go along with the theme. After Kat got on her diaper, she also got a yellow shirt to wear!
I was asked to bring bananas for the banana splits, so I personalized them by writing Kat on them with an ice pick. It worked out perfectly!
I also went through some balloons I had and realized I had all the letters to spell out Kat in gold balloons! Wahoo!
Another friend who was going to the party asked what to bring to a goat's birthday party. If you remember, her sister, Boo, turned 5 back in October and also had a birthday party that I wrote about. I told my friend she likes bananas and carrots, so that's what both of us took as a gift, along with some cards the kids made.
The table with the spread for the ice cream and activities for the night looked perfect!
The first activity was fun! The kids had 5 minutes to use scissors and foamie paper to cut out a goat shape - no tracing with pencils allowed! They said this was pretty hard.
The shapes were judged by some of the adults that were there. The kids did a great job - hard to cut out that shape and not have it look like a sheep or a dog. Ha!
The next activity was similar, but with clay. They had to make a goat shape using clay and had five minutes to do it.
Kat hung out outside while they worked on this project, but she wasn't the judge. Once again some of the parents chose the first and second place sculptures!
The last activity was pin the banana on Kat! The kids were blindfolded, spun around, and had to place a banana on the drawing of Kat.
Some of them did a pretty good job! They had to put it the first place they touched, and they couldn't feel around to figure out where the bullseye was.
Kat got to enjoy one of her special Kat bananas. She really did love it! She tore right into it, peel and all! Her sister, Boo, is more picky and prefers junk food to bananas, but she also had a little bit of one.
Those in attendance were our family with six kids, our neighbor's family with one kid, another couple, and the neighbor couple. Pretty good attendance for a goat's party. Ha!
As promised, banana splits were the main event of the evening! The ice cream options included cherry, chocolate, and vanilla. There were also many toppings, including my favorite, peanut butter! Many had banana splits, and some left the bananas out and just had ice cream!
Ever the introverted goat, Kat enjoyed some quiet time on the couch in her new yellow shirt at the end of the evening!
All in all, it was a great party and a fun evening with neighbors! We enjoy these get togethers, and the kids love the activities our friend plans for the party! Happy 5th birthday, Kat!!
@dandays - I didn't want you to miss the birthday party!
Haha @apanamamama, what crazy fun parties you have in Panama, I remember Boo's birthday party😉
