Taking in the View of the City | Afternoon Walks with my Dog, Tiger

Dogs will be dogs. Tiger loves taking walks. He knows the word "laag," so we don't use it loosely around him lest he gets excited for nothing. So when we do go out, we always go to his favourite spots near our place, and one of which is Ayala (Cebu Business Park).

We usually go out late in the afternoon, just before sunset. Recently, we walked at around eight in the evening, and there was less traffic. It was easier to navigate the streets with Tiger, but we could not enjoy the sights as much.

Tiger is seven years old, a cross between a shih-poo and a Japanese spitz, and was a gift from a college student. He's my first dog, and obviously, I love this creature to bits.

Today, we discovered that there are fruit stands again near City Sports Club. Actually, it's in the garden next to it, right in front of a corporate building. I bought ripe papaya, perfect for my yoghurt. Tiger also loves yoghurt.

This garden brings a lot of memories, and the best of which are my walks with Tiger.

He loves exploring everything, especially the grass. All those smells get him excited. It's always a taut leash when he's here. The purple bag you can see at the bottom of the photo is his bag. Yes, he has a designated bag, so he'll know when he's actually going out with me or not. And it contains his paper towels and litter bags because I always clean up after him.

It's challenging to get a steady shot with a dog in tow. He never sits properly because, of course, it's walking time. He knows how to make the most of the moment.

But I can't help but look up and enjoy the urban sunset. I'm so grateful that this scenic spot is just a few minutes away from home, and we get to enjoy it whenever possible.

And be happy that, despite what the world is going through at the moment, the spirit of Christmas is still here. Tiger loves Christmas because of Mama's crispy pata.

He also loves flowers. He checks out the Santan bush and snorts happily. I've never seen a more naturalistic creature than this happy ball of energy.

After buying papaya, we head to the garden at The Terraces. Tiger loves the oriental feel here.

Tiger already has his own ID, but we still skimmed the posters for good measure.

Tiger loves smelling all the plants, and I enjoy the sculptures and the architectural design. Natural and man-made art.

He can't get enough of all the smells. I think dogs are amazing creatures because of their extraordinary sense of smell. They are led by life by the nose, hehe.

And if you let them, they will lead you to incredible corners that may have seemed ordinary for you at first. Dogs give you a different perspective about life, and they offer it with such gusto.

But soon, our short excursion must come to an end. It's time to go home and have dinner. Tiger doesn't want to go home, but home we must go. So he takes one last look as if to promise that he'd be back another day. Hopefully, it won't rain tomorrow.
