This time there is no video, and the topic is not training either, but still an essential part of training.
We are going to bake treats this time. During training we motivate our dogs with food most of the time (toys or belly rubs can work too sometimes, depends on the dog). Usually the treat has to be small and soft, so it can be eaten fast and doesn't interrupt the training for too long. It also has to be of higher value to the dogs compared to their usual food, so they will be extra motivated to get it.
The recipe:
- 150 g wholemeal flour
- 125 g peanut butter
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp baking powder
- water as needed
Caution: xylitol is toxic to dogs, check ingredients what they use as a sweetener (e.g., in case of peanut butter)
Preparation is quite easy.
I just mix all the ingredients first without water. I don't measure baking powder usually, just sprinkle a little on top, you don't need much.
Then add water in small amounts, until you reach the desired density. I use a silicone mold with ~ 1 cm holes. Therefore, I use more water, so the dough flows into the mold. You can make a regular dough density, and shape the cookies yourself.
Filling the mold is the most time consuming part :D Then bake it on 180 Celsius for 30 min (25 if you use regular flour)
And the finished product looks like this:

The best part is that these treats are also edible for humans, and they are delicious (I tried).

I had not seen anyone prepare their own dog food, your recipe is interesting. Some time ago I had the opportunity to visit an animal food factory, at that time I worked in a distributor of these foods.
It is interesting that during the tour we were invited to taste the mixture used for these foods before baking it. I tasted the cat one and I must say it even has a nice taste.
Nice post and beautiful dogs, best regards!!
Here is a slice of pizza to go with the dog food !PIZZA
Thank you. This treat is by no means a whole food for dogs, it is good to use as treat, but complete nutrition is more complex than this.
