Cat:
At home, we have several pets. Starting with the cat, he belongs to my son but more than a tenant he is one of the family. He is now 4 years old and arrived when he was just one or two months old. We didn't know how old he was then because we didn't take him to the vet. Months went by, our economy revived a bit and we proceeded to take him to a vet. This gentleman was not very good, he did not know how to find the months of age of our beloved cat. So he only had a birthday since the day he came home.

All these years he has been much more than a companion, he follows me into the garden. He is alert to every sound, and he gets defensive about any change he notices in my garden.

Tortoise:
We also have two tortoises. They have been here since they were a week old. Each one at different times of course. They have been gifts from friends. They are free in our garden but with certain limits. Because once we had another tiny tortoise and he got under the garage fence and we never saw him again. So our tortoises have plenty of space to live. They love to eat the fruits of the nopal cactus. Of course, they eat many other things, even meat. They eat eggs, Squash, tomatoes, carrots, beets, potatoes, etc.

Quail birds:
In addition, I have some quail birds, that are in cages. They lay every day or at least almost every day of the year. Since I have them at home I have never eaten chicken eggs again. I think it is an advantage to have my own fresh eggs. With these eggs, I have been able to substitute chicken eggs and add them in salads, in making mayonnaise, in cakes, cakes, cookies, and others.

Some quails are very docile but there are others, however, that are very fierce. They try to peck at me when I bring them food in the mornings. They are not used to the fact that I am their provider and they should not be bothered by my presence there.

River fish:
The man who works at my house brought me a fish from his house where he lives on weekends. He lives in a town near the river and brought me two fish, a female and a male and on the way, the male got loose and escaped. He died of course because he had to fall on the pavement.

This little fish is a big eater. When I go to feed him in the mornings he swims out very fast. He pokes his head to the surface of the aquarium to eat his food flakes.

There are also some huge toads in my garden and they don't disgust me. They come out at night and sometimes I run into them and pass them on the side. They don't jump because if they did I would jump too, but backward of course. I have them as friends in my garden because they eat the pests that come from other places. At least when the snails arrive and eat my plants very quickly, the toads also proceed to eat them very quickly. The toads don't give them a chance to reproduce. They are not my friends but they are not my enemies either.
