Other dogs bark at us but we no afraid

Walking with Ethan has been chill after his training. He walks by my side and knows the cue and what to do or where to poop (he poops at vacant lots which is okay). Since he's been trained, he knows he shouldn't go crazy on distractions like cats, small kids, and other dogs. Although some days it's not perfect, he could still try to pull me to the kids and maybe try to sniff or play with them but I don't allow that and just have to reiterate to him that they aren't his playmates.

Today, we walked on a new route.

This village has what they call "phases", the houses are grouped in to three phases and the ones we're at are the townhouses type. We usually just go around our phase cos it's big enough for us to walk for 30+ minutes and he gets tired after. Also, I've been trying to familiarize the neighborhood and how many strays (or just offleashed dogs) are around. Since we are already fine with it, I decided to explore the other phase.

There's like a problem there though.

To be able to go to the other phase, you'll have to pass by a what-looked-like a compound for construction workers (cos the village isn't done yet) and they have a pack of dogs. I'm talking about 8-10 dogs. These dogs are off-leashed and when another dog passes by, they go near at you and these little pieces of shit barks at you.

These dogs in the pics are just some of the pack. They're literally like 8-10 or probably even 10+ dogs. All. barking. at. the. same. time.

I'm not scared of them anymore and I just shoo them. My dog just looks at them and at that time I told him to sit cos I wanna take pics of them stupid dogs hahah. We stayed there for like 3 minutes and they probably wondered why we aren't bothered so you can see at the right photo they're not looking at us anymore.

I can see why most owners with their dogs walk at our phase tho. Any owners can be so anxious at these dogs because who wouldn't??? I mean 10 dogs bark at you at the same time and follows you.

The gardeners and workers at the compound don't look bothered tho. They don't even call their own dogs or tell them to stop barking which is so annoying but I think they know they will just bark and won't do anything. Still, they should discipline them cos not everyone is brave or knows how to handle this shit.

Anyway, in this phase the big houses are located. As you can see the roads are big, they are way better than the ones we're in. The houses also have wider gaps unlike in ours where they're very congested.

There's not much people living in some houses and some are still under construction so it was pretty quiet here.

The ''stay'' command is so useful when taking photos

I also took some pics of us near the gazeebo. He's a good boi as you see. He's also 9 months now and will still grow. Here you can see how big he is compared to me (I'm only 4'11).

Some people would ask me what breed he is, how old, and why he's big lol. I can't answer that. I guess his genes? I can see he's taller than other golden retrievers and he's not done growing yet.

Some would be afraid of him and some look at him with amusement. He's harmless tho. He just wants to play.

Maybe one day we can play fetch at that court when I'm confident enough to off leash him.

Sort:

I was going to ask where he poops, but looks like you clarified that. You're a real lover of pet and seems you put enough time into the dog's training too. Can't be more surprised, he's looking plum and healthy and that must be due to the diet as well. Well must be quite challenging to actually train a dog, but I see you've really had fun with it. Wow. But let me guess, this has to be taken with you're new iPhone 13 pro? If it is, then the details are definitely out of this world plus the dynamic range is breathtaking.

Maybe you can give me the 12 pro Max then hahaha. Been a long while

He poops at our backyard but whenever we walk, he just poops for some reason even though he already had earlier lol. I guess it's normal for dogs that way. There were many times he pooped at roads so I just have to pick them up everytime.

Yeah he has a pretty good diet! I feed him dog food + meat and sometimes veggies too if I have. His favorite fruit is apple.

No my new iPhone hasn't arrived yet so this was taken with the iPhone 12 pro front cam (not max). Yeah this is what I really love about iPhones, their camera especially this one captures great details and don't blow the highlights up. This isn't even RAW. This is edited but still other phones won't be able to catch those details.

Oh wow, I thought it was the max, so your pre-order hasn't landed, yes? Because I thought I read one time where you said you preordered or so. I imagine how the 13 pro would look like, I mean this one's camera is a beast already with the light editing you did to the pictures. They're more than amazing.

Hahah dogs pooping often might mean that they're healthy.

Yeah I pre-ordered and it's still on the way. I’ve already expected it to arrive in a month tho, customs and all that. :/ Yeah it really is so nice especially the main camera’s focus. It focuses so fast haha I can’t wait for the new one to arrive.

Ethan is so cute and behave. ❤
If I was in your situation I'll be left frozen 🥶 I'm scared of dogs kasi hahaha
10 dogs not a joke, so brave of you vyankee 🤩 💪

I was actually really scared before but I realized they will stop barking when you show them you're the alpha and you don't get scared of them. Might probably not work on some very aggressive dogs outside the village tho

Ethan is such a good boi. Love how he doesn't go crazy and attack those aggressive dogs. My dog tends to do that, I really need to train him more often.

Yeah he is. I think as long as he sees you as not being bothered or in control, your dog won't try to be protective or attack too. Saw some Youtube videos haha but yeah it helps if you train him so potential harm will be avoided

Yes, I for sure will. Thank you!

Ka cute sa iro. Murag c Doug sa UP

Yeah same breed sila :D

Nice, gusto ko talaga magka dog na same sa kanya.

I have watched on Youtube a video from a dog trainer who addressed this precise issue:how to deal with stray dogs when walking your dog. He advised any pet owner to have a pepper spray. It is for your dog's safety and your own as it is nearly impossible to break out a dog fight /attack once it is happening. 10 dogs versus 1 dog and its owner....not very good odds in case the pack goes crazy. Not even police trained dogs could fight a pack.
It is unfortunate to not be able to enjoy walks because other people abandoned their dogs or left them unleashed. I wish there would me more law and order when it comes to this, including in my own country
I consider getting a dog too later on and I have pondered the issue of stray dogs a lot. I will definetely go for pepper spray.

Yeah I have looked it up before too. I'm quite confident since I am inside a subdivision and the owner/s of the dogs are just there nearby when we walk so I feel like they know nothing will happen but still they can be quite unpredictable. If something happens tho I can immediately call for help cos guards are near but yeah still it could be dangerous.

I also have a water gun and read it can be useful too lol but dunno it might trigger more aggressiveness haha. I don't think pepper spray is easily accessible here or if it is even legal

Hmmm water gun, I think they would consider it play lol.
It is legal here, you should see in your country if it is. Self defence is good
