Carmencita es una perrita que llegó a nuestras vidas de la manera más inesperada y a la vez triste. Ella apareció en nuestra localidad repentinamente y no paraba de oler y dar vueltas por todos lados. Me di cuenta de la situación cuando vi que perseguía los carros, supe entonces que la habían abandonado, ella estaba delgada, su color opaco presentaba sarna y estaba toda rota debido a que se rascaba mucho. Me partió el alma verla así y en ese momento la acaricié y aunque sé que ella no me entendía le pedí que por favor no se fuera, rápidamente le busqué comida y agua y cuando bajé ella estaba allí, pasaron los días y la verdad no sé si me entendió o si solo sintió que allí iba a estar protegida y que nadie le haría daño.
Carmencita is a little dog who came into our lives unexpectedly and sadly. She appeared in our neighborhood suddenly and couldn't stop sniffing and wandering around. I realized the situation when I saw her chasing cars, I knew then that she had been abandoned. She was thin, her dull coat had mange, and she was all scratched up from scratching so much. It broke my heart to see her like that and at that moment I petted her and although I know she didn't understand me I asked her to please not leave, I quickly found her food and water and when I went back down she was there. Days passed and I really don't know if she understood me or if she just felt that there she would be protected and that no one would hurt her.
Comenzamos a curarle sus heridas para tratar de aplacar esa sarna que tenía y poco a poco Carmencita con amor y dedicación fue cambiando física y emocionalmente, es una perrita alegre y muy divertida.
We started to treat her wounds to try to soothe the mange she had and little by little Carmencita, with love and dedication, changed physically and emotionally. She is a cheerful and very funny little dog.
En diciembre del año pasado le notamos un bulto en sus genitales, lo cual nos pareció muy raro, rápidamente acudimos al veterinario y le diagnosticaron tumor de sticker. El tumor de Sticker, también conocido como tumor venéreo transmisible (TVT), es una neoplasia que afecta a los perros, es un tumor maligno que se transmite principalmente por contacto sexual, pero también por lamido u olfato. Los síntomas que presentó Carmencita fueron: inflamación de su vagina, sangrado y secreción de color blanco. Al saber esto nos preocupamos ya que podía infectar a otros animalitos.
In December of last year, we noticed a lump on her genitals, which seemed very strange. We quickly took her to the vet and she was diagnosed with Sticker's tumor. Sticker's tumor, also known as transmissible venereal tumor (TVT), is a neoplasm that affects dogs. It is a malignant tumor that is transmitted primarily through sexual contact, but also by licking or smelling. Carmencita's symptoms were: inflammation of her vagina, bleeding and white discharge. Knowing this, we were worried because she could infect other animals.
Sin embargo, lo único que me importaba en ese momento era saber si tenía solución y efectivamente si la tenía, solo que íbamos a necesitar ayuda en cuanto a los costos es por eso que hicimos rifas y pedimos apoyo a la fundación Gustavo Minguet y sin dudarlo nos ayudaron, también se sumó la ayuda de mis amigos en cuanto a transporte, comida y medicamentos, es por esto que pudimos actuar a tiempo.
However, the only thing that mattered to me at that moment was knowing if there was a solution and indeed there was, only that we were going to need help with the costs that's why we made raffles and asked for support from the Gustavo Minguet foundation and without hesitation they helped us, my friends also joined in to help with transportation, food and medication, that's why we were able to act in time.
Carmencita pasó por un proceso de cinco quimioterapias una por semana, gracias a esto pudimos notar que poco a poco su bulto disminuía de tamaño nos alegramos mucho por ella, porque sabíamos que ella estaba mejorando, en el proceso de las quimioterapias solo dos veces presentó los efectos secundarios que fue vomitar.
Carmencita went through five rounds of chemotherapy, one per week. Thanks to this, we could notice that little by little her lump was decreasing in size. We were very happy for her because we knew she was improving. During the chemotherapy process, she only vomited twice as a side effect.
Después de este largo trayecto hoy por fin fue su última quimioterapia y estaba muy feliz porque sabía que ya estaba mejor y que no iba a sufrir. Me gusta siempre tratar de fomentar a las personas a qué tengan un poco más de empatía por los animalitos no solo perritos sino en general, los animales son parte de este mundo. After this long journey, today was finally her last chemotherapy and she was very happy because she knew she was already better and that she was not going to suffer.
