A veces hemos visto en películas de Hollywood historias trágicas que solo parecen creadas para un libreto, sin pensar que en la vida real estas historias son anécdotas que suceden a todo momento.
Esta es la historia de Oso un perro que simplemente fue olvidado. Oso llego a nuestras vidas un 6 de junio de 2020 en plena pandemia COVID, tenemos un amigo en una veterinaria cerca de nuestro lugar de residencia que llamó con mucho pesar buscando de nuestra ayuda. Aun recuerdo esa llamada inesperada Hola acá tengo a un perrito muy bonito que su familia mando a dormir, porque su dueño murió y no se quieren hacer cargo de él, si no consigue un hogar para el antes de las 5 pm lo dormirán. Y ustedes se preguntarán ¿y como la veterinaria acepta hacer eso?, lastimosamente muchas veterinarias deben aceptar este tipo de solicitudes por miedo a alguna denuncia por pésima atención al cliente, aunado a ya estar al tope de perros para adopción.

This is the story of Oso, a dog that was simply forgotten. Oso came into our lives on June 6, 2020 in the middle of the COVID pandemic, we have a friend in a veterinarian near our place of residence who called with much regret looking for our help. I still remember that unexpected call Hello, here I have a very nice doggy that his family sent to sleep, because his owner died and they don't want to take care of him, if we don't find a home for him before 5 pm they will put him to sleep. And you may wonder how the veterinarian accepts to do that, unfortunately many veterinarians must accept this type of request for fear of a complaint for poor customer service, in addition to already being at the top of dogs for adoption.
Al principio no estábamos seguros de aceptar este reto, nos cuesta entender a veces en temas de adopción de animales que hay muchos aspectos a evaluar, la parte monetaria, tiempo, si hay posibilidad de espacio, permiso de tu casero si vives alquilado, si el perro tiene alguna enfermedad, etc. Y no nos hace malas personas, simplemente, es una responsabilidad que se debe tomar con mucha seriedad.
Cuando finalmente decidimos adoptarlo, una de las principales razones fue, es un perro que merece la oportunidad de vivir, y nos dio mucho pesar imaginar los miles de animales en este mundo entero que deben estar pasando esta misma situación.
Cuando fuimos a buscarlo nos indicaron que se veía un perro sano, de 10 años aproximadamente, pero no teníamos mas ninguna información de él. A tal punto que desde ese día lo bautizamos Oso sin saber su antiguo nombre.
Oso el primer día llego a tomar una larga siesta, no comió ni bebió agua esa noche, fue un perro muy tímido al inicio, observaba desde un rincón del cuarto nuestro día día, mientras me imagino en su mente se preguntaba ¿quiénes son estas personas y en donde está mi viejo hogar?
At the beginning we were not sure about accepting this challenge, sometimes it is hard for us to understand that in animal adoption issues there are many aspects to evaluate, the monetary part, time, if there is a possibility of space, permission from your landlord if you live in a rented house, if the dog has any disease, etc. And it does not make us bad people, it is simply a responsibility that must be taken very seriously.
When we finally decided to adopt him, one of the main reasons was, he is a dog that deserves a chance to live, and it made us very sad to imagine the thousands of animals in this whole world that must be going through this same situation.
When we went to look for him we were told that he looked like a healthy dog, about 10 years old, but we had no more information about him. To such an extent that since that day we baptized him Oso without knowing his old name.
Oso the first day took a long nap, he did not eat or drink water that night, he was a very shy dog at the beginning, he watched from a corner of the room our day, while I imagine in his mind he wondered who are these people and where is my old home?
Lastimosamente nuestro mayor miedo llegó un día, Oso no era un perro sano. Descubrimos que tiene un problema gástrico irreversible por mala alimentación, un serio problema de alergia en la piel y un desgaste en sus dientes que no se puede remediar. Aunque con mucho esfuerzo y disciplina lo hemos intentado ayudar, hay diagnósticos que no podemos solucionar. Es un perrito que constantemente tiembla inclusive, cuando esta dormido, después de varios diagnósticos fallidos desde deshidratación hasta Parkinson, Oso es un perro que sufrió mucho maltrato.
Lo reconozco, a veces he sentido que esta es una responsabilidad que cuesta llevar, pero luego digo, no, Oso es un perro que merece un hogar en donde por solo mandato de la naturaleza, deberá pasar sus últimos años. Todos los animales domésticos merecen compañía, amor, respeto, cuidados, mimos y no simplemente ser desplazados, humillados, abandonas y maltratados.
Oso actualmente ya lleva 1 año y medio con nosotros, sigue siendo un perro temeroso, pero anímicamente y de salud ha mejorado. Es un perro muy tranquilo, paciente y leal. Le encanta las siestas de tarde, llevar sol junto a mi ventana y que le regalen de vez en cuando un pedacito de pollo, bebe agua con locura desenfrenada (parte de eso un tema endocrino) es terco a la hora de salir a caminar y tiene los ronquidos mas ruidosos que he escuchado en mi vida, espero el tiempo me permita seguir siendo su mamá un ratico más.
Unfortunately our biggest fear came one day, Oso was not a healthy dog. We discovered that he has an irreversible gastric problem due to bad food, a serious allergy problem in his skin and a wear in his teeth that cannot be remedied. Although with a lot of effort and discipline we have tried to help him, there are diagnoses that we cannot solve. He is a little dog that constantly trembles even when he is asleep, after several failed diagnoses from dehydration to Parkinson, Oso is a dog that suffered a lot of mistreatment.
I admit it, sometimes I have felt that this is a responsibility that is hard to bear, but then I say, no, Oso is a dog that deserves a home where, by nature's mandate alone, he should spend his last years. All pets deserve companionship, love, respect, care, pampering and not simply to be displaced, humiliated, abandoned and mistreated.
Oso has been with us for a year and a half now, he is still a fearful dog, but his health and soul has improved. He is a very calm, patient and loyal dog. He loves afternoon naps, sunbathing by my window and being given a little piece of chicken from time to time, he drinks water with unbridled madness (part of that is an endocrine issue) he is stubborn when going for a walk and has the loudest snoring I have ever heard in my life, I hope time will allow me to continue being his mom for a little while longer.
