Han Solo, is a very special member of our family for a number of reasons. The first one being that he had no siblings at birth. Yip, our Mamma cat only had one, him! I remember how he just slipped out one morning while I was having my coffee. It took us days to convince her that he was actually her child and that we hadn't snuck some other cats rifrat in for her to look after hahahaha.
And if that wasn't enough one morning we couldn't find him anywhere. I was in tears as it was obvious that some other cat had entered the garage where he slept with Mamma Cat and we just couldn't find him anywhere. Mamma Cat was around so I just knew something horrible had happened!
Then on the next morning Katalina came to me saying that she can hear meowing under the rock feature by our pool. And my goodness there he was tucked away safely under one of the rocks! I couldn't believe that he survived that long outside, all alone without anyone snuggling with him.
At that point I announced to @therneau that we had to keep this little tough boy now. I mean it's obvious that the universe has sent this little guy to us for a reason! Normally it wouldn't have been such a problem, but you see I had already convinced him to keep Mamma Cat's previous precious cargo so we had 7 cats at this point already hahahaha.
I did some research and it is incredibly rare for only one kitten to be born. Yes, I did add that to my motivation to keep him, hahahaha. It was a very interesting experience as we learnt early on that there are normally more than one for a reason. Han Solo often found himself alone and would Meow and Meow until one of us picked him up to comfort him.
At one stage @therneau and myself had him in a little bed next us and would take turns comforting him in the middle of the night. It was like having a newborn around all over again. Mamma Cat fed him and groomed him but much rather preferred spending time with her other, bigger, and in her mind, more deserving litter of babies.
Thankfully all ended well and once he was a bit bigger he started hanging out with the cool kids and was welcomed into the larger Saunders cat family.
The only thing that still reminds us of those earlier days is his Meow! Holy Moly he will follow us around and Meow loudly until he gets what he wants. Seems that is one survival instinct that our Han Solo will not let go off!
