Hey guys! This blog is completely different from my previous blogs. As I've mentioned from my intro post, I am a pet lover but, we are not allowed to have a pet inside our condo except for fish. So this time, let me share with you my journey in fish addiction!
I've been very busy lately setting up my new aquarium and breeding bettas. It was Sunday evening when me and my partner went to the mall to buy groceries. On our way home, we saw fishes displayed along the road inside a plastic. We decided to stop by and look at the different kinds of fish with different colors and varieties. In the lower right corner, I saw these 4 bright colored goldfishes and decided to buy them. I was exhilarated to pet them. I quickly placed them inside a glass jar temporarily. The next day, I bought an aquarium and air pump for my fishes. Also, I started buying LED lights and tank decors. Staring at my 4 gold fishes swimming inside my 16x8x8 in. tank, I realized they need more friends or what we should call "tankmates" so I bought danios, guppies, shrimp, nerite snails and janitor fish! I think my addiction is getting worse. This is me when I get obsessed with something.
I noticed that my female guppies have big round bellies and their gravid spot is darker too. My partner told me they are pregnant! I was so worried about how to take care of a mother guppy and how to feed a guppy fry. According to google, a guppy in labor will start to isolate itself away from the fishes and will start to breathe rapidly. Also, you have to separate them to avoid other fishes from eating their fry. A month later, my guppies gave birth to 15 fries, and then a day after, another guppy gave birth to 10 fries! I fed them with powdered fish food and baby brine shrimps (BBS). Live foods such as BBS is the best food for guppy fry since it is high in protein and it helps my guppy grow faster. Guppy fries also love to hide, so putting live plants is recommended in taking care of your guppies.
Until one day, I saw the most alluring fish in the world, the bettas. I was told that they were called fighting fish for a reason. They can't be in the same tank. They flare and sometimes end up killing each other. They must be kept in separated tanks. So I went to a betta seller to buy 3 bettas but ended up getting 10 bettas! Oh my! I must have gone too far. haha I also started doing my research on how to breed bettas. On my next blog, I will share with you my betta breeding experience. Thank you for sparing your time!
I thought I already commented on this post but when I checked it again the reply I thought wasn’t there. Hahaha Anyways, I am so happy for your new hobby. And also, I get to enjoy this beautiful view as well everytime I visit your room. Haha I am so excited to see more fishes with different colors soon. 😘😘😘
