More about the Dog characters who are fond of my company at the park
Earlier post I had introduced some of the dogs I keep seeing at the park where I exercise.
Petting sessions that my free roaming dog buddies enjoy!!
I knew the name of just the yellow tinted dog, Rascal, that time. She’s the first dog I got acquainted with and seeing me pet her, another dog came forward to get pet massages from me.
See how Rascal is relaxing turning herself up!!
That dog is this white tall brown spotted dog, whose name I got to know is Votka.
Later, and very gradually another Blanket styled brown tinted dog, called Batman, got friendly enough to come by himself to me to soak and get petted.
This is a new development, as he usually is too disinterested to get up and come to me if I am not near his path.
A thought to give Rascal something to bite that is tasty other than plastic bottle
At first, I had nothing to give these dogs but massages, but later I started carrying some dental chew sticks, to give Rascal something to chew.
She always grabs a plastic kinley bottle that irresponsible folks have thrown at the park and bites them.
Ofcourse, I have seen her bite thrown off slippers as well as dogs do.
My idea was to give her something more healthy for her to bite and chew, and a dental chew stick is good for her teeth.
This girl is pump and well fed and happy thanks to the area volunteers who feed her and other dogs. So, I doubted if she will take a liking to this chew stick but it turned out she did.
Amble joy to see these dogs enjoy their dental chew stick treat!!
It has chicken flavour I heard from the store fellow. I buy a packet of dental chew sticks whenever I buy stuff for my cats. It took a while to feel generous enough for this because this adds to my costs, when my cats’ items itself are expensive.
However, in the end, seeing them happy enjoying the chew stick is worth the additional cost.
The nice lady in the area who serves nutritious meals to the dogs…
It only made me appreciate the lady I have seen, coming by car with food for the dogs. I heard she buys 11 kg chicken and boils it along with rice and turmeric to feed the street dogs. I have seen her take extra care to see that the area she serves food in the bowl is clean, I guess so others don’t complain.
The dogs recognize her car, and a dog called Jhorny runs and follows the car at times.
The regular doggie Johnny at the corner outside house verandahs
Johnny is this dog who hangs out on the street adjacent to the park. I don’t pet him much, because he rarely comes my way and likes sleeping in some corner in front of a regular house veranda.
This guy once barked madly at me and I used to fear walking the street he is in, but he is not the kind of dog who wants to attack, probably he just wanted me to pet him but those days I was staying away from street dogs.
Honouring the Chew stick possessive sentiments of Dogs
Rascal posing with chew stick
Coming back to the chew stick giving habit. At first I used to give only Rascal chew stick but it turned out other dogs expected the same treatment, so Votka got it.
At times, other dogs ask for chew stick so I break it and give it to them so they don’t end up fighting. Although, not all dogs like it.
Batman with his chew stick
These dogs are possessive over the chew sticks given to them, that if you go near them to take it they shift away taking the chew stick with them.
Rascal is an assertive dog and won’t allow any other dog to take her chew stick away from her but other dogs can fight and bully Batman and Votka, taking away their chew sticks from them.
There will be days when I have no chew stick to give, but those days dogs have to be content with pet massages alone.
The real animated version of dog Rascal and Votka
Finally, here is the part where you get to check out Rascal and Votka… Rascal already was through greeting me and settled down finishing her chew stick, after which Votka arrived running like a horse after his wanderings around the area.
These dogs as can be imagined keep wandering anywhere around the area, and are very active and playful. Unlike us, they won’t find it a tough ordeal running around the football field, watch this …
These dogs already did 3 or more power sprints like this before I filmed this run.
Well… hope you enjoyed reading my post!! Happy Saturday all!!
