A few weeks ago, we saw a mother cat with her two kittens on the top floor of our house near the clothesline. A few days later, the mother cat carried one of her kittens from place to place but never came back to pick up another one.
Realizing that the mother had left her kitten in a part of our house, we rescued him and fed him kitten milk in a small bottle. We're pretty relieved that he can drink milk from the pacifier.
We estimated that his age was 2 weeks old. My husband gave him the name Yanto. It means "a persistent boy". Even though he was really tiny, he was very persistent and agile, jumping out of the box for milk and a warm hug. He also managed to walk across the room to take over Rainy's bed, even though we had given him a pillow.
Meanwhile, I made an "Open Adopt" announcement for Yanto on social media and friend groups. Our finances are in bad shape, our house is insufficient for more than one pet, and we have no experience of caring for a baby kitten. I'm afraid we weren't capable of taking good care of him.
At first, we introduced Yanto to Rainy from the different room to see his reaction. Rainy was so curious to see Yanto. In the next day, we put Yanto in a same room with Rainy. He looked excited and let the little buddy sit oh his pillow. Such a good big brother ❤️
One day, we realized Yanto's appetite for milk was decreasing. He didn't want to eat wet food either (read the article; 2-3 week old kittens can be given a little wet food). He preferred to drink water and he was getting thinner. But we couldn't take him to the vet because of the budget and we got some urgent family matters to do first.
We intended to take Yanto to a puskeswan (public animal health center). I just found out from the internet, that there is a shelter that can accommodate Yanto; he can get better treatment from a veterinarian there before someone adopts him. So we've planned to bring Yanto there for the next day.
But before we took him there, Yanto had already decided to go to the rainbow bridge. He was gone. 😥
We're sorry that we couldn't manage to give you the best for your past ten days.
We're also sorry we couldn't find a new home for you.
Now, you have found your own new home.
Be happy there, little kitten.
Once again, we are so sorry.
I'm so sorry. I know it's heartbreaking. You did what you could.
When I was a child, we rescued a little pup. We did our best to help him get through the only night he managed to survive. Sometimes it's difficult with cubs and pups 😢
Thank you for your kind words. Yeah, heartbreaking indeed. The hardest part was seeing him dying. 😥
I'm sorry 😔
That's okay, darl. Thank you so much for your attention 🤗
🤍
Oh that was so good of you to give the help you did. Sweet little Yanto.
Thank you for your sweet words. Sometimes I still picture his sad face and his loud voice.
