Introducing Pino: from tiny kitten to playful troublemaker

in Hive Pets4 days ago

Pino arrived three months ago, and when I adopted him, he was also three months old, according to the vet at the time. I hadn’t planned on adopting another pet, but after my other cat, Rita, passed away, my cat Tofu became very lonely and sad, really missing her.

I had the idea of adopting another kitten to keep him company because he was truly grieving. It was obvious—he just wasn’t the same cat anymore. Even though he was already older, I thought adopting a kitten would be a good idea so they could bond from an early age, making their adaptation easier. And not just with him, but also with my dogs, Bethânia and Margarida. Introducing new pets to each other always requires patience, and I wanted the process to be as stress-free as possible for everyone.

I was prepared to keep them separated for a few days, but he was welcomed with so much curiosity by everyone that, on the very first day, they were already napping together in the same room.

Tofu was also very curious about Pino’s arrival right from the start and didn’t mind being close to him. He was never the calmest cat, but I think the loneliness and the absence of his friend made him more open to having a new companion.

Exactly seven days after Pino arrived and had been freely roaming around the house among the other animals, Tofu finally “adopted” him and gave him his first lick-bath.

These pictures below were taken in his first days here, and looking at them now, my God, time has flown! He’s not that tiny anymore. Now he’s six months old and such an energetic, mischievous, and playful cat. He doesn’t give Tofu, me, or the dogs in the house a break.

These were the first photos I took of him—sleepy and calm. Now, those moments are much rarer! These photos below were taken during a lazy moment in the backyard, where he blended in with the plants to enjoy his morning sun.

I’ll be back soon with updated pictures of how he looks now. Hope you like this one. I personally love the pink background of the yard matching his rosy ears.
