I have two Alaskan Klee Kai
The red and white one is Apollo, he's 6 years old and 18 pounds.
The black and white one is Aurora, and she's 7 years old at 14 pounds.
2 weeks ago Apollo yelped whenever we got close to him. He stopped eating and wouldn't want to leave his crate. We brought him to the vet and learned that he hurt the back of his neck somehow. They ran tests and they think he hurt a muscle or tendon. They gave him pain meds and told us to not walk him and let him lounge around the house till he's better.
It's been 2 weeks and he hurt it again. When I take him out for a quick pee break, he acts like he's not in pain and pulls hard on the leash and tries to run to say hi to other dogs in the neighborhood. We also think he hurt himself again when we leave the house. Due to his separation anxiety, he typically climbs everything and howls.
When we get home, Aurora also likes to nip him in the back of the neck cause she gets excited.
Would love to get any advice any if any of you have it. The Vet said he just needs time to heal. But he gets overly excited when going out for a pee break and while Aurora usually just hangs out next time him, every once in a while when she gets excited, she'll jump on him, causing him to be in pain again.
- Have any of you gone through a similar situation?
- What did you do that helped your dog get better?
When we leave the house, we don't crate them because they end up slamming against the metal crates and breaking out. But if we don't crate them, then Apollo climbs things to look out the window and Aurora goes bananas scratching at the front door.

Hello man, long time ago I was taking care of two Golden Retriever and everytime we went out of home they were totally over excited, my strategy was to make that time when I put them the leashes very quick and precise, with out to many previous hints. 👍☮️
I hope your friend get better soon!
That's such good advice that I struggle with. I think I always drop hints. When my wife leaves them alone they're fine, but I think they can feel my anxiety out leaving them home, and they flip out lol.
Hey bro, I have never had a dog with that problem but it seems quite worrisome, being you I would take the dog to another vet for a second opinion to be sure
You're right! We'll have to bring him in somewhere else for a second opinion. Thank you.
