Our abnormal winter continues its show. After the thaw, the frosts returned. Since I have only a few small chickens left this year, their number is clearly not enough for them to warm up to each other. It worried me a lot. What to do? I decided to take them home. In the end, it's only for a couple of days, because then a thaw awaits us again. It will probably be like this all winter.
So, I put two large cages in the room and relocated my chickens there. They didn't mind at all. The prospect of spending the night in a warm room seemed much more pleasant to them than the prospect of freezing their ass in an unheated chicken coop. Of course, I'll come up with something next year. Maybe it will be an insulated house inside the chicken coop. But for now, I can't offer them anything except a room in my own house.
Fortunately, my chickens are a little bigger than a pigeon. They are decorative and quite tiny. Therefore, it is not a problem to put them in a cage. I would allow them to walk around the room, but if dogs accidentally get there, we will all have problems.
It has become cold here as well, but with rain. However, it will warm up next week.
It's already cold here!
The hens look healthy, take care.
