Hi, my dear friends!
The accidental introduction of chickens into my home has made me rethink a lot of things, not so much about these birds, but about how people treat chickens.
I always knew that chickens were very intelligent birds. Whoever coined the expression "chicken brains" probably wasn't very smart or didn't know anything about chickens.
The actual change in my opinion was the fact that I was surprised to discover that there are a huge number of people who have chickens as pets. You won't believe it, but there really are a lot of such people.
Well, I was glad to have like-minded people in my slightly odd hobby.
Meanwhile my hobby is making changes in my life. My chickens have bare necks and the coming winter has created a risk of colds for them. I made the decision to take them indoors. Luckily I have a large indoor aviary and I was able to house them comfortably. So...now I'm listening to the duet of two roosters in the morning! Nooooo, it doesn't annoy me. Honestly, I'm so used to these birds that I just don't pay attention to their singing. They don't even wake me up in the morning.
But their presence in the house has brought much amusement to my dogs, who enjoy watching the new inhabitants of the house.
I let the birds walk around the room during the day, and if it happens to be a warm day, I take them outside.
I have, let's say respect for chickens, because many times I passed by a place where they had a hen and a rooster and it was, let's say territorial, more than once I had to run to avoid being pecked and they hit me with their wings.
Haha, they can)) All my birds are very affectionate, but one day one of my roosters got a problem with his head and he started trying to peck me. I was very upset and offended. I caught him and said: let's come to an agreement, either you stop doing this or I will lock you away from everyone else, because my legs are dear to me! Gradually we made peace
Hello dear friend @torem-di-torem good morning
It is admirable for the love you have for animals and birds, it does not surprise me that your dogs are curious watching the behavior of the chickens inside the house
This pet chicken thing is not new to me, in my childhood we lived in a house that had a chicken coop, and with my older sister we chose the best specimens as our pets, we had chickens and roosters with featherless necks, it is a kind of bird that adapts very well to the company of people
I appreciate that you let us know about this experience that you are having with the chickens inside your home.
Have a splendid day
My chickens stay out all year. I expect they would make a mess in the house. They seem to cope with the occasional snow despite being tropical birds originally. Mind you, they are not laying any eggs for now. Yours are cute.
