Les presento el caso de esta gatita Cochita, es una gata que está esterilizada y tiene al rededor de 2 años y medio, ya había venido antes a consulta para control y desparasitación hace ya algún tiempo, pero generalmente las personas suelen esperar a que sus mascotas se enfermen para llevarlas al veterinario, amigos no hagan esto, pues muchas enfermedades pueden prevenirse si son detectadas a tiempo.

Luego que termino de actualizar el historial, paso directamente a revisar a la gatita, ya tengo una idea en mente de lo que le puede estar sucediendo, ella llega a consulta porque presenta, falta de apetito, decaimiento y vómito, cuando yo la reviso noto que la temperatura está un poco alta, lo normal para los gatos es de 38°C a 39°C y ella lo tenía en 39,10°C que no es tan alta pero si es significativa, comienzo a revisarle las mucosas, las encías y la conjuntiva de los ojos, y me doy cuenta que están pálidas, esto quiere decir que no tiene anemia.

También me doy cuenta durante el examen físico que tiene una inflamación en la zona abdominal, durante la anamnesis que es todo el cuento que deben decirme los dueños, su dueña me comenta que no la ha visto orinar bien y además le dan alimento concentrado es decir gatarina, también me comentaron que la vieron ingiriendo agua de la calle, agua estancada del suelo.

Lo primero que les digo es que es con urgencia realizarle un eco, porque es posible que esté presentando cálculos renales porque es una gata esterilizada y toda su dieta es a base de alimento concentrado, esto hace que su sistema urinario se atrofie es decir se reduzca un poco de tamaño y también causa fácilmente cálculos, el abdomen distendido o inflamado se le llama ascitis que es una acumulación de liquido y ya que no está orinando bien es posible que todo esto le haya generado una ascitis, también les recomendé, realizarle un examen de heces porque posiblemente también se trate de parásitos como una amibiasis ya que estaba tomando agua de la calle, y también pueden generar todo estos problemas, le apliqué un diurético para ayudarla con expulsión de los líquidos atrapados en el abdomen y también le apliqué un antipirético para la fiebre que presentaba, junto a esto le administré y indiqué también metronidazol que es un desparasitante especifico para amibiasis mientras llegaban los resultados.

Dentro del recipe, le indiqué o le anoté, el diurético que le apliqué, un antipirético para la fiebre y metronidazol que es el desparasitante, amigos si ustedes tienen a sus mascotas catradas o esterilizadas no deben darle alimentos concentrado, o por lo menos no hacer que ese sea su única dieta porque como les comenté atrofian su sistema genital y se generan problemas, los gatos necesitan del alimento concentrado un aminoácido que es esencial para su dieta porque ellos no la producen por si solos, para esto le pueden dar su gatarina pero que no sea solo esa comida y se la pueden administrar cada tres meses o cada dos meses que no sea su dieta principal, les recomiendo siempre mantener a sus mascotas en control con el veterinario para su desparasitación y chequeos.
