The illusion of the Chameleon

in Hive Pets2 years ago

The beauty of nature is the diversity of the living creatures.. From the wild to the domesticated, from the tiny inched to the heavy pound beast. Amidst all of this I found the colour changing reptile, the 360° eye moving, the two, three bundled opposed toe, the rapid long tongue shooter; The Chameleon,

I was walking by and saw the beautiful creatures.. I waste no time and took pictures of it before its departure. I guess I lost a pet.

The color changing ability of the chameleon is particularly attributed to kind of specialized cells known as chromatophores which are located in the outermost layers of the chameleons skin which definitely are otherwise completely transparent in the absence of chromatophores. contrary to popular belief, the chameleon doesn’t change its color to blend in with its environment which actually is quite significant.

its color change depends entirely on communication, its mood or the conditions in its environment in a subtle way. for example simply because chameleons are coldblooded, a favored tactic of theirs to generally control their body temperatures is them changing their colors to darker shades so they can literally absorb more sunlight and specifically maintain warmth which is fairly significant.

they also use different colors to essentially communicate with each other especially when trying to find a mate which makes males display brightly beautiful colors to basically signal dominance also when they actually turn a darker shade mostly blood red as a display of aggression in a major way females respond with specific colors to let a male know if they accept or deny a mating opportunity.

Having them as pet doesn’t seem to be dangerous since they’re neither toxic or poisonous and also do not transmit diseases. though I’d not and never settle for such. Killing or eating this animal is a no for me… regardless of its nutritional value…. I bet someone will tell you how delicious that old man can be. It’s far from what you can get a piece of flesh from. lol.
