Before announcing and going through with the idea, I wanted to check it with the community first.
Let's go into the details...
The why.
X closed itself off from the rest of the world upon Musk's acquisition in a big way by limiting usage of their API's which caused a lot of different apps to stop working. They created a tier list and @poshtoken was surpassing the 2nd tier by a margin of 5-6x in activity, this meant that we could not make due with just the 2nd tier API which would've cost $100/month. The 3rd tier was $42,000/month so obviously that was ludacris to expect to pay those amounts for API access to cover the automation of all things POSH on X.
While we've shifted focus onto Reddit lately with @redditposh, it is quite different from X as the sharing there works similar to communities on Hive, with each one having its own rules and Reddit generally being against the big subreddits wanting to take users off-site, thus they've put a lot of money into making Reddit keep their users on-site at most times by having their own hosting services for images, gifs and videos.
The how.
With snaps, we could use the HivePOSH community to snap shares or general tweets that mention Hive and we'd want others to participate in them, i.e. boost, leave comments, leave likes, etc. Sharing them on snaps would be easy, just a link to the tweet and the tweet would be embedded for easy view on @peakd.
We could then encourage users to go and like the tweet, leave a comment under the tweet and maybe copy-paste it under the snap so that you could get rewarded by the original author with a vote or by @poshtoken curators. Simply leaving a comment mentioning you liked it would already work quite well and you could be rewarded just for participating in boosting the outreach of hive-related tweets through our curation system and @commentrewarder tipping due to engagement.
The not.
Obviously we don't want this to get abused, people need to make sure these shares and snaps of tweets wouldn't get overrewarded. In the same boat we also wouldn't want to make snaps a spamfest just with tweets and shares of hive links through tweets. Maybe @asgarth and the team behind @peakd could make the HivePOSH community snaps have their own container so they wouldn't get intertwined with the regular snaps? Just an idea. Maybe resnaps could then still appear on the other container for the important ones, dunno.
The idea is also great because good timed tweets getting a boost and engagement by others here would boost the visibility on other important tweets.
Example:
Someone discussing freedom of speech platforms and decentralized social media may get spammed by comments suggesting some random new friendtech copypastas with fake engagement and bot activity on them, but a hive user suggesting Hive and then snapping about the reply on the tweet could get a boost by genuine users here finding out about the reply and quickly getting to the right place to vouch for the reply with their own comment, a like and repost, etc. All while being rewarded here through upvotes and tips.
Anyway, I'm sure there's tons of other useful scenarios this could be beneficial to hive so I'd love to hear your thoughts if we ought to move forward with this activity.
Great idea! But it can be not only about Twitter but mentions/comments on other platforms. Reddit posts often get good rankings on Google search so a comment with many upvotes below a potentially popular post can be helpful for Hive.
Educating AIs about Hive should be kept in mind too - getting more visibility on social media discussions might be helpful for this mission too.
Many people writing on Medium can join Hive. I believe it would be smart to have a program or a plan for draining users from there to Hive. Alas, most articles there are hidden behind the paywall so it's a bit more complicated to infiltrate there. But worth thinking about that.
This is actually a great additional idea, on top of it we could include other platforms as well such as Instagram, youtube, tiktok, etc, and give them proper rewards if they're attracting traffic by spreading the word there or wanting a push from hivers who have accounts there and could "brigade" their comments to the top.
Will think about this some more, great input and glad I made this post!
I'm sure peakd would be open to allowing for more platform embeds directly onto snaps as well to make life easier for viewers and call to actioners!
This should already be the case 👍
I don’t see any value in Xitter anymore. Everyone I used to follow there has moved onto other places(mostly Mastodon) and I moved right alongside with them.
How great it would be if we simply moved to Hive platforms.
But since the goal is to make Hive sound on the outside, and since you mention it. It would be great if you would investigate if Mastodon can achieve this purpose, I would gladly participate.
Lots of people on Mastodon don't like crypto in general, and I understand their hesitance, there's a ton of scams in the industry, and things that last for very short time. Maybe once we clean things up, more people will be willing to join, but until then, crypto drives a ton of people away.
Even regulations also scares many.
Twitter has been a cesspool of just random clickbait items, i ended up on bluesky as an alternative and snaps as my main areas :)
I don't really get how posh and reddit works 😅
You sign up on hiveposh.com with keychain and reddit authentication, this then links your reddit account to your hive account (you get a reddit icon on your peakd profile page), then whenever you share a hive link on a subreddit, @redditposh automatically detects it and leaves a comment notifying the author of the share (author doesn't always have to be the sharer).
We then upvote the comment if the share did well on reddit and you and the author get 100% of the hive rewards in liquid hive along with some posh tokens as mentioned in the daily @redditposh compilation posts.
That sounds a good way to incentive to promote hive on reddit!
I need to make a reddit account then, I must be one of the 1% of people without it
There's a surprising amount of hivers without reddit accounts, many more have twitter
I don't even have Twitter 😂😂

I think you know better. So, you could go on with the plan, let's see how it works out.
The system they propose makes sense and I like the mechanics. But I don't think X deserves it. X is not Twitter, even if it pains us and I wouldn't spend my efforts on that platform anymore. I'd keep thinking about something else.
Is there anything that can be done with WhatsApp statuses? It's what people post the most and see the most. I don't know if they can be of any use to us.
Any action in which we help the growth and benefit of #Hive is incredible, there is no doubt about that. You have to find a way but being able to do it in "X" is great because #Reddit because of the subdivisions is a little more complicated for everyone

Sounds like a really interesting idea! I should also resurrect my reddit account, I have been dormant there for a few years...
Excellent 👌🏽. I recently activated it on my profile and my friends have also started using it. I really like the similarity it has with Hive and the trma of communities 🐝.

Excelente 👌🏽. Hace poco lo active en mi perfil y mis amigos también han empezado a usarla. Me gusta mucho la similitud que tiene con Hive y el trma de las comunidades 🐝
