Hello Hivers♡
I grew up in a place where the temperature mostly shoots up to above 40°C in summers and even goes down at 3-4°C on winter nights. It rains around 45-50 cm per year.
Since childhood I loved summers. Long days and short nights are something I'm more comfortable with, though I've never experienced the extreme day-night ratio of poles but I would like to.
I love ice-creams and beverages that are particularly consumed during summers. Taking a dip in the river and early morning outings are some good activities to enjoy.
There's less risk of heart attacks in summers.
But over the years due to climate change the pattern of seasons has started changing. Population expansion and animal agriculture being the major reasons.
This year we experienced extreme heat compared to what it used to be, producing a burning sensation in the skin. If you don't have a roof over your head, you will have a tough time. Animals and birds could be seen dropping dead from the trees. And it's getting worse every year. The most affected ones are homeless and animals. Our number is not far away.
I love summers but not this one for sure.
Now I've started liking monsoons more. It gives relief from the summer heat, there's lot of greenery around and its a great time to enjoy nature. Rainfall not only quenches the thirst of Earth but of our eyes too by creating beautiful sceneries : )
We love to go on a family picnic during this time if possible. You get to see lots of beautiful waterfalls.
Also an important period for photography lovers as insects & amphibians come out from their aestivation.
I love the petrichor, a great delight to olfactory senses. It is produced by 'actinomycetes' bacteria of the soil.
As a child I floated paper boats in the puddle of rain water. Me and my brother played this game of 'whose boat survived the longest.'
And of course crispy fritters in this season can't be forgotten >.<
Nostalgia seeps in as I write about this season which is now my favorite.
Every season has its disadvantages. People die of floods and architecture collapses, prices of fruits and vegetables spike up.
A major concern is the rainfall patterns being disturbed by the changing climate, inviting pain and hardship for the farmers and all of us.
Photo is mine, not the flower :)
