The user @roadscape created the present notification system that is used on many interfaces like PeakD.com. It is presently not customizeable but does include most everything that users want to be notified about.

  • Mentions
  • Reblogs
  • Follows
  • Replies to you
  • Community administrative actions involving you
  • Some blockchain errors
  • Votes above .02

PeakD.com has color coded the types of notifications to help you quickly find the types of notifications you are most interested in.

This notification system can be used across many websites... therefore we have to communicate information. So when you click on the "CHECK MARK" it will do a transaction to let all websites know that as of this date and time you have seen all the notifications. From then on we will only count notifications that come after that check mark action.

Getting the system out as a good proof of concept was top priority at some future date being able to customize them will be available.

The last item (VOTES) is usually the one people most want to customize so they can either get more or less notifications about votes.

ADVANCED KNOWLEDGE

The notification system was built on top of a technology called "HiveMind"... this technology also runs things like our list and badge feeds and runs the entire Communities system. We are only scratching the surface of all the cool things Hivemind can do.
