Emergency Preparedness

Continuing with emergency preparedness, I have located and am in process of purchasing an automatic defibrillator. These devices can be acquired for less than $2000. An AED (automated external defibrillator) is a device, in the rare instance it is needed, that can save a life. At simplest, they work as an electrocardiogram to detect a heartbeat. If it detects fibrillation, it will administer a shock to bring the heart back to its normal rhythm. It can even guide the user through the administration of CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation). This buys time until paramedics arrive to take over. As a Facility Manager, it is my responsibility to look out for the well-being of the building occupants. Thus, having an AED on the premises falls within that part of my mission.

Also in Emergency Preparedness, I have finished marking up a building map with locations for evacuation routes. I decided that regular building occupants would know where exits are. Therefore, places where they will likely be don't need evacuation maps posted. In public spaces, where guests who are unfamiliar with the building are likely to be, I have placed the evacuation map locations. The design company will work on the maps and send me the finished product. Later, I'll have to decide on the framing to be used to install the maps.

Tech Support

I had a couple of instances of technical support. One was helping a presenter connect to our projector. The HDMI cable was faulty, so we swapped it out.

I also consulted for an upcoming event in which we will have several presenters. Historically, we have had problems with laptops using USB-C connection, particularly Dell computers. If the computers have HDMI ports, they work fine. However, USB-C to HDMI adapters have been sketchy. I recommended that they only use computers with HDMI ports to do presentations to ensure maximum compatibility.

The Hivebuzz proposal already got important support from the community. However, it lost its funding a few days ago when the HBD stabilizer proposal rose above it.

May we ask you to support it so our team can continue its work?
You can do it on Peakd, Ecency, or using HiveSigner.
