Ahmed woke up one morning with a smile after he had a beautiful dream that he wish it had lasted longer. It was seven in the morning and he still had enough time to take a shower, wear his grey suit, and eat food.

Starting today, he won't have to think about catching the bus at five in the morning. He felt happy putting on his tie as he had paid the last installment of his father's debt after six years of exhausting himself working as a vendor hobbling from one train to another.

Today, he will start his new job as assistant director. A job he deserved considering the amount of effort he put in to get the job.

He left his room and went to the kitchen where he made a cup of coffee, spread butter on his toast, and had two bites before he decided to give the rest to his mother who was put in a cage by him after she turned into a squirrel.

He carried a mid-sized piece of meat and went to his parents' room where his father lies with his feet tied up to a heavy chain. He had bought the piece of meat from the bear tamer at the circus.

When Ahmed walked into the room carrying the piece of meat, his father was still asleep. He noticed his father's white fur is starting to have black spots. Ahmed thought of bringing in the vet when he returns in the evening but he quickly changed his mind as no vet would accept treating a big bear in a place like this.

Ahmed ended up deciding to consult the circus trainer after he finishes work.

Ahmed went to the sink to wash his hands when his sister landed on his shoulder. He laughed and shook his should. She then flapped her wings and flew away. He had stopped attempting to catch his sister as he feared he would crush his sister. His sister flew away with red wings with black spots.

Ahmed left the kitchen to wash his hands and then headed to the company as he was training his ear to the sound of his new title "Mr. Assistant Manager"...

It was a beautiful day.

I had no idea what the hell this was about until I saw your ListNerd email about the way we dehumanize those around us in our striving for success, which caused me to return to this piece with new eyes.
It is as humorous as it is thoughtful and provocative, a fascinating little exposition on a human vice. Thank you for sharing! !PIZZA

The freaking squirrel part slapped me in the cortex, it was all so domestic and then...SQUIRREL! LOL!

And I can't say I have never thought of my dad as a bear before....And now you have broken my brain for the second time today. I'm throwing !PIZZA at you now!!!

I actually partly went with that as an "Up" reference. Because it would suddenly make the reader go

I have been lacking sleep lately but having this fun muse with surreal stories.

Lacking sleep sounds like a horror story to me, but I am digging the surreal story-telling so yay! Well, not so yay about the sleep deficit, hope you caught up on some Z's

And Dug is the bestest😊

You call it horribly written stories. I would almost call this "Genius".

You're very right. And it's a good thing to think about again when you're chasing 'the big money'.

Is Ahmed human and his parents were transformed into animals? I liked the story so much I am promoting this post in Listnerds, thank you 😄

I can't seem to get my head around the squirrel and the bear, lol!

Great story. I had to read it twice to get it. It is very humerous. Thanks for sharing.
