In a forest dark and deep,
A maiden lay, bruised and asleep.
Her injuries grave, her breaths shallow,
As she lay on the forest floor, a shadow of her former hallow.
But fate had other plans for her,
For a man, with a heart of pure fervor.
Came upon her, by chance or destiny,
And brought her to his grand castle, an eerie sanctuary.
The castle stood tall and grand,
With turrets high and a moat of golden sand.
But it was dark and gloomy too,
With shadows creeping in, through and through.
With gentle hands, he tended to her wounds,
Nursed her back to health, with care and boon.
And as she awoke, her eyes did see
A dark and mysterious man, the ominous king, Ravenscar.
She trembled in fear, for his name did ring
A terror that made grown men quail and cling.
But he smiled down, his eyes so dark,
And whispered, "You're mine, from now on, my mark."
But as she lay, in his embrace,
She knew she was a prisoner, in a gilded cage.
He held her captive, with pleasure and pain,
Made sure she knew she belonged to him, in vain.
She begged to leave, to see the light,
But he laughed and said, "You'll stay, my delight."
For in his castle, she was his queen,
And he would not let her go, not even if she screamed.
She cried and pleaded, but he was deaf,
To her pleas and her misery, he was left.
He told her that this was her fate,
And forever in his gothic kingdom, she would await.
Thus, she lived in luxury and woe,
A prisoner in his gothic castle, a puppet to his show.
But in her heart, she dreamed to flee,
And escape the clutches of him.
The castle's walls were tall and cold,
And with every step, her heart grew old.
For in the darkness of the keep,
She knew she'd never again see the light of day, and would forever sleep.
This is a narrative poem that tells a story that can be interpreted as a metaphor for a situation where one's freedom is taken away, and the longing for freedom and escape.

I enjoyed reading this narrative poem of yours that I wish you could turn this into a fantasy story. The maiden's fear and desire to escape was vividly captured. Lovely poem! Well done!

Hello @discovery-it thank you for appreciating my poem. I have joined your community and voted.
Fantastic imagery. I just watched Snow White and the Huntsman, so this reminds me a bit of that world. The story is tragic because it looks like she will be trapped forever. Maybe she needs a ray of light. Something worthwhile to fight and live for. Well done!
Hi @litguru,
I'm glad you enjoyed the imagery in the poem and that it reminded you of Snow White and the Huntsman. I love that movie. Also, you're right, she may need something to give her a reason to fight and live for. I appreciate your feedback and your thought about my poem. Thank you for enjoying it and for your kind words.
