One thoroughly at home in the harsh world of university social climbing and project budgets. They knew that if he wasn't suitably impressed, the whole dig would be closed down for good.

The audience, some apathetic and others drunk, did not take notice of the performance. The boys left the makeshift changing room in the women's bathroom disappointed. That smelly place welcomed them to finish another dismal performance.

She had been trained as a police officer and by chance, a criminal investigation course she had taken some time ago just to kill her free time, had placed her in this time and place.

But cowboys... oh gosh, I don't think I've ever written anything Western-themed. The hard bit will be coming up with something original that doesn't just parrot one of the great spaghetti westerns, and doing it without the help of one of Morricone's incredible soundtracks.
It is interesting... but an interesting theme!

But I did do a bit of basic research to find out who was in charge of the Confederate Trans-Mississippi army and where they were based. Also, no guesses which song was going round and round in my head as I wrote this 😁
