I reach out my hand, seeking yours

I reach out my hand, seeking yours,
but I find only emptiness in the air,
like an echo lost in the dark night,
a whisper, a heartbeat that the wind snubs.

Below, in the street, the rain settles,
cold as the fear that embraces my skin,
each drop is a cry, a soul that absents
the warmth of your laughter, the light that embraces me.

I'm looking for you, between shadows and mist,
the footsteps complain on the wet ground,
the reflection of the sun is hidden in the feathers
of birds that fly, leaving their past behind.

I reach out my hand, and the wind responds,
caresses my skin, but it's not you,
a distant heartbeat in my chest hides,
and the emptiness in the air murmurs your light.
