It was the last day of my off-war days, I had to leave the civil life in the morning and head toward fighting, so I thought of spending the night with Naji at his cafe.

I went to him and entered the cafe, straight to our red sofa, and took a seat, there were still some bright lights turned on, and a few customers sipping the coffee.

Naji came close to me, and Said;-

  • Naji:- tomorrow you should head back to your unit, Right?!

  • Naser:- Right

He went to bring us our coffee, meanwhile, the few customers went to pay and left, he turned the lights off and let our low lights on, and brought the coffee and came and took his seat on the sofa.

I said:-

  • Naser:- hey Naji, do me a favor please, You knew about the fallen soldier they brought today, right?

  • Naji:- Yeah, Do you know him?

  • Naser:- No

and I took an envelope out of my pocket, I gave it to Naji, and I followed:-

  • Naser:- go to the funeral, and give this amount of money to his father, and tell him this money is for the kids of the fallen soldier.

and I almost implored Naji with my tone, and said:-

  • Naser:- please, next time we meet, I would like to see you handing me this envelope and saying he didn't take it because there are no kids.

Naji took the envelope, and said:-

  • Naji:- fine, but I have a question, why are you so sure you'll be back alive? I mean it is a war and ...

in a kind of sad tone, he followed:-

  • Naji, you know what I mean.

I replied:-

  • Naser:- Yes I know what do you mean, But I don't think I will die soon

Naji was kind of surprised, and in a curious tone asked:-

  • Naji:- and why is that?

  • Naser:- I caused a lot of tragedies, I have a lot to atone for, trust me, I won't die soon.

  • Naji:- You didn't have a choice

  • Naser:- I think if I disobeyed the orders and got myself a military trial, and went to jail for 5 or 10 years, is way better than causing one of the tragedies I've done.

he nodded in agreement, and said:-

  • a good point of view.

I attended the unit the next day, arrived, and entered the Barracks, I saw a new face joined a few days ago.

there was a war on a religious base going on in a neighboring country called ( Ebiya ).
a lot of young Ustioans man fooled to be recruited to join that war, the excuse was there is a big-time VIP representing our official religion, he is number one, and if he gets killed, that's kind of shame on us, and crab-like that, that was the propaganda.

the real thing was a disagreement about a trading route and drinking water between Ebiya and Tursey, so as you see, it's a pure interests war.

the young fool men were recruited into an unofficial militia fighting for Ebiya,
the Ebiyans were so good with the propaganda they produced and presented, that they saw the war coming a long time ago, and they started preparing for it.
their first phase was to brainwash people inside and outside Ebiya and present this man as Symbol number one of the religion, something like the Pop for christens, and then when the war starts, they call the people from all around the world to come and fight and protect this holy guy.
