Maledictus Terra Book 3: Vetitum Nemus Part 4

Introduction

Welcome back to Maledicturs Terra. This is a Chain Story between myself and @lex-zaiya, meaning that we each write the parts alternatively.

If you have not read Maledictus Terra Book 1: Mortis Custos yet, it starts HERE at Part 1 and ends at Part 101 HERE. At the end of the Part 101 post you will find links to all 101 Parts!

Maledictus Terra Book 2: Sanguifex started HERE with Part 1 and ends at Part 111 HERE

The previous part by @lex-zaiya can be found HERE.

The new book is quickly on its way with a part 4 already... time flies...

Part 4

"Your brother... well, I cannot explain it. But he has been busy. It is not as though he is just sitting in his rooms idle you know?" Mortis said.

Magna did not seem pleased with the answer. "Perparing. Studying. I know he thinks he needs to do that on his own. But it's crazy! We should be working together!"

"I hear that he is not training with Adiran either."

"Our uncle... Adrian thinks that if he learns what Adiran knows that he would just been doomed to repeat his failures. Something like that."

"Isn't knowing what is going to happen part of what you need to prevent the future from happening again?"

Magna spread her hands wide and grunted. "How should I know? He's tried to explain it to me, but I don't get it. But that does not mean that he can just ignore me!"

"Just give him some time."

"Time." Magna muttered. "You're undead inhabited by a God. I think you don't understand time like a mortal anymore."

Mortis said nothing to this. She was correct. He would need to figure a way of keeping an eye on this. When you are immortal, whole nations can change in the blink of an eye.

Derric had chosen a hawk. It was fast, he could stay out of bowshot if he needed to. If he wanted to fly around or sit in a tree, he would not be out of place.

Hawks are often curious of large groups of humans.

Yet when he got closer, before he could distinguish any individuals there was a sound and a smell in the air that quickly changed his opinions.

These were not humans.

The force before him was not put into formations like that of a disciplined army. Instead, there seemed to be large packs or mobs or smaller humanoid creatures congregating around the form of a larger creature.

Not knowing if these beings would try to hurt him and eat a hawk, Derric kept his distance and watched from far away. There were banners and weapons and clothes, but it was still apparent from the differences in sizes among this collection of creatures that some were smaller than man sized and some were far larger.
