My Son's First Module: Lesson 1 - Name Tracing Practice , Lesson 2 - Learning to Write the Letter A, Lesson 3 - Coloring Practice (Kindergarten Homeschooling 2021)

Greetings Home Edders!

It has been busy months from a previous couple of months for me and I am glad to be back again in sharing my thoughts and experiences in this amazing community.

Looking at my "All Posts", the last time that I have posted an article is from the month of May (when we are still living in Quezon City which is part of Metro Manila) now that we left the city life and we are now living in the countryside I have now a good chance of blogging regularly on each day.

Moving forward, I will be sharing my experiences in homeschooling my four years old son (he is now in kindergarten).

My son's school officially started last September 10, 2021, when we were told to get the first module for the first quarter.

So we went to the school and received the module, at first I am very confident that it will be an "easy peasy" or "walk in a park" in teaching my son since I got to see how to teach children and because also of my educational background and professional experiences and also because our son is so eager to go to school.

Sure, the lesson is very easy, and I actually have an idea how to teach it to my son but my wife told me that she will handle the teaching by saying "Let me handle it, I got this".

So, I just sit beside my wife and watch them both carefully while inserting my ideas and talking to them occasionally as the lesson goes along.

And here's how his first-ever homeschooling goes...

Lesson 1 - Name Tracing Practice

At first, he's very excited to get his hands on the module. And then he asks us if he's going to school and he has to do his school works in our home.

With that said, we are obliged to explain to him (at a very young age) that he and his classmates will be not going to school and enter a classroom because of pandemics.

It seems he understands a bit (because he doesn't insist on going to school) after we elaborate it to him.

As he is doing his name tracing practice he seems to lost his enthusiasm halfway to the lesson and then he said: "Pawis na ako eh" in English it means "I am sweating" (which is his favorite word when he doesn't want to continue on what he is doing).

But we are quite ready for it and we are able to oblige him in finishing his name tracing practice.

LESSON LEARNED: A child can be quite stubborn, and sometimes they do not want to continue with the lesson, patience is needed.

Lesson 2 - Learning to Write the Letter A

After we persuade him to finish his name tracing practice we then moved on to the next lesson which is writing the first letter of the alphabet.

As the lesson is going further we noticed that when he finished writing one letter he's going to stop and will not going to write again until we urge him to do so.

At this moment I confirmed that his enthusiasm is really gone because he was not able to go to school and enter a classroom.

But just like I said, I and my wife are quite ready for this situation so we are able to persuade him in finishing the lesson.

This lesson took more time than the previous one because he tends to stop writing after he finished writing a single letter.

But he was still able to finish the lesson.

Lesson 3 - Coloring Practice

Then came the third lesson, this time I have seen some enthusiasm from him because coloring is one of his favorites.

But halfway to the lesson, his enthusiasm is gone again and he seems not very eager in finishing the lesson (he's stopping in coloring once in a while). I and my wife did all my best to make him finish the lesson.

His coloring lesson took a while to finish because he's kind of lazy halfway to the lesson.

But as I said earlier I and my wife are quite ready for this situation, we are able to persuade him to finish his lesson.

And that is how our experience on our son's first homeschooling experience went.

We figured out that homeschooling is not going to be easy for me and my wife because we figured out that we need a lot of patience, experience, and knowledge in homeschooling our son.

All in all, the experience is very fulfilling for us as his parents because he was able to trace write his own name, color an object, and write the letter Aa without holding his hands.

Hello friend, nice to have you back in the community. You and you are doing very well, as a recommendation to achieve more easily master the movements of the hands and the grip of the pencil can allow you to draw curved lines, straight lines, circles, spirals this will help a lot because initially remember they should know and master the movements of their hands that is the basis of the tracing of the letters.

Thank you for the advice, I will keep that in mind.

Wow I really enjoyed your son homework the young boy have a bright future, please take his education so serious because education is very important. thanks for sharing his homework to us

Thank you very much @homeedders

Very nice! I learned all of that when I was a kid, too... but then I started working with computers and now I'm afraid to say: my cursive writing looks absolutely horrible! 😖

Same here, my writing looks somewhat horrible too (^_^)

I wonder if doing the lesson side by side with him would help. Perhaps if your wife is the teacher, you can be his classmate and join in the fun. Or you could even both join in.

This is a great idea, I think he will feel that he has a classmate if I am going to do this. Thank you (^_^)
