Hey guys,
If you love nature and need an idea of how to introduce your children to learning about this beautiful world and its wonderful natural enviroment this is something you can do.
I personally love this activity so much! Not just for my boy and what he's learning from it, but it's also me who enjoy spending time outside, being happy just for the sun and the grass and the trees, flowers and all nature around me.
If its not winter and all that cold, we spend a MAJOR part of our day outside. So this autumn (when my baby boy was 1yr and 9months) we went on a "nature hunt" searching for plants, flowers, fruits and other elements found in nature. ๐๐๐ฟ
Caleb loves these activities and always has do much fun doing them.๐ They are so easy to do as there is practically no set up involved and it's free. I hope your little ones love this just as much we do. ๐ฆ
You can make this learning activity two ways.
- Showing/exposing the cards so the children find the elements they see.
- Search for the elements first, freely, (without showing them) and then put the children to associate them with the cards.
I guided this activity and we did the search first. We picked up anything we could find :
- ๐ mushrooms
- ๐ต๏ธ dandelions
- ๐ฟ leafes
- ๐ apples
- ๐ snail shell
- ๐ฆ feathers
- ๐ grass
- ๐ tomatoes
- ๐ fern
- ๐ฒ coniferous cones
Then he associated each plant and item with the representative card. ๐๐๐ฟ
You can see that our basket remains more and more empty after all this work done! :p
This spring we're going to repeat this activity, but I'll show him the card first, poiting him out what to search for. And after we'll make the association with the cards.
Hopefully we inspire you to try something like this.
I always love doing these activities as I feel it's a really fun way to keep children looking at, and in touch with nature and the world around them โค๏ธ
Btw, if you dont have cards like ours, there are plenty of free printables on google/pinterest. Just search for "nature hunt printables".
Take care,
Missdeli
Such a awesome idea! nowadays kids spend so much time in front of screens that they do not know where food comes from. I am definitely introducing this activity to my nephew who unfortunately does not spend much time in nature. Many blessings, thank for this post :)
Yes, you're right! Tv and all these 'smart' gadgets can take some of the best in life like spending time in nature and learning about it. In this century it cant be one without another, but balance is everything, not to mention nature is more important. Thank you for commenting!

tokens.I loved reading about this activity. What a cool thing for a little boy! Learning the plants and critters of nature will stay with him his whole life.
Thank you so much! I really apprecitate it! And yes, that's the reason I wanted to start early learning; cause now is the most sensitive period with a huge impact in their behavior, knowledge, and education in all forms. I want him to learn that nature is important, that we must to protect it and appreciate it. So, I'm doing my best, trying to learn through play and having fun in the same time:D:D thanks for stopping by! :X:X
