Shapes and Colors Recognition Activity for toddlers

in Home Edders3 years ago

Hey guys!

What do you think about this activity? This is a 2 minutes Set Up Worksheet and it has a lot of learning benefits for our little ones! And it's free! You just need a peace of paper and some carioca.

Shapes and colors are among the first things our little ones learn over the first years. There are hundreds of things you can do at home to create learning opportunities for your baby (involving some good minutes or hours of prep and set up) but sometimes it's good to have something in hand and just put it on the table just like that, in 5 minutes.

We did this when Caleb had 2yrs and 3 months but it's a good one to keep and use it even for 6-7 years olds (and maybe you can add a lot more shapes and colors to be a bit challenging for the older ones).

Overall, it's a fun and easy to do task for the kids when you need a couple of minutes. Trust me, it works as long as your children know what has to be done).

This activity works on color and shape recognition and consolidation.
Also it improves brain function, memory and cognitive skills, fine motor skills and dexterity.

You can be more inventive and create different patterns and drawings.

This is another activity you can make for Color and Shape Recognition.
It's a bit different than the first one. This is perfect for fine motor skills development because it requires a good control of the pen, writting and coloring skills.

This is not easy for every child, but we did it when Caleb had 2 yrs and 4 mo and he was completely ready for it. I think thats because at the age of 1 and a half, he already wrote his first letter, a "A" letter. At the age of two, he could writte all letters and all numbers from 1 to 100.

Every child is different and they have their own development rhythm, so don't push it. Best you can do is to observe which are the child's abilites, skills and hobbies and follow him!

"Follow the child" said Maria Montessori, meaning allowing your child to experience and engage in activities that interest them.

These are terrific, easy, and free activities for kids; awesome share!

I know many parents who feel that they need fancy or expensive toys for their kids to play with. I just sent mine outside to play in the yard and at the edge of the woods. lol

These activities certainly inspire the love of learning, and there's no greater gift to instill in your child. Thanks for sharing these with us!

Best wishes for a Happy, Healthy, and prosperous 2022!

Cheers!

It is a really fun and creative activity. It is important to stimulate attention in children and with the colors it is possible to achieve not only the attention but also to verify that they are appreciating the color and recognizing it, sometimes when our children have vision problems it is difficult to discover them if we have not done with them this type of activities that allow us to be attentive. Thank you for this activity that as you say can be used with even older children.

Beautiful! I love the second activity where you need to draw the shapes around the colors.

Thanks darling! I'm always trying to find something easy to make and yet so practical.

I am so lucky to be one of those that always get homeschooling ideas from you. Keep em coming and good evening!

Oo yo're so kind! Honestly, I'm glad I can be helpful with ideas on home learning activities!
