My Gallery (294) Calligraphy Class / Shodo #8 - Eki / Train Station

in Home Edders2 years ago

These first two pages were the best. I wrote a new word "Eki" (e-ki), which means "train station".

Here, my sensei held my hand and we wrote together. This way I get better faster.

Calligraphy in Japanese is called Shodo. I'm using a brush and black ink on special calligraphy paper. The paper is very fine, soft, and the size is bigger than A4.

My sensei is always giving me to write simple words in Hiragana. My sensei's writing is in orange, and the orange circle that my sensei draws over my writing means that I did well.

Shodo is awesome! I really enjoy it very much. You can try with me if you like.

I think that I can safely say that your writing is a lot better than mine XD I'm learning Japanese on Duolingo and sometimes do the exercises where you have to write the characters and I am so hilariously shaky I'm pretty sure that a human would fail me XD (the app is pretty forgiving).

That paper sounds nice, does it feel nice to write on with the brush?

Thank you. Sometimes it's easy but other times it's just soooo difficult. I get a bit frustrated sometimes. Important is not to give up. The paper is good and it sucks the ink too. It would be awesome to see yours. For sure very nice.

Getting frustrated when you're learning is perfectly normal. And yes very important to keep persevering and not give up! How long have you been learning this? If you compare your current work to your previous work, do you see the difference?

I only do mine on the app and it's very scratchy and messy and not worth showing, unlike yours which is beautiful!

Thank you for your kind words. I don't know how to do it on app but the brush is kind of fun, and it can be even messier than your app. If you try to write with a brush, you can do messy, it's ok. Also color pencils are good. I started ten month ago, after my 7th birthday.

The strokes look simple, but I imagine they have a certain degree of difficulty and require a lot of practice, I don't think I have the ability to do them; congratulations for your progress in Japanese calligraphy.

Greetings!

Thank you very much. You are right but I don't understand how it works yet. It'll take some time for me.
Have a nice day!

Nice work, @nathanko! It's good to see you're still studying Shodo in 2023 : )

Hello! Thank you very much.

thank you so much for sharing a beautiful drawing, have a nice day and a great week

Hello! Thank you very much. Have a nice day every day too!

I tried to boost your post via Ecency but they ripped me off 😨😪😪

Hi! Thank you for that, and I'm sorry to hear that. What does it mean I don't know.😟

O, I happily can educate you (my Dad explained this thing to me).

Nathan, you can sign in with the help of the site https://ecency.com. It is another interface for Hive, which has some extra features for us. 'Ecency points' is one of them. You can earn their points using Ecency. When you saved enough points, you can spend them to promote your posts to other Ecency users, or get upvotes for your posts, or direct Ecency at anyone else post that you want to have extra support).

I like your calligraphy a lot. It deserves more attention and support that the post received.
@canadian-coconut @taliakerch -- what will you say? I think Ecency curators BECAME VERY PICKY, they never agreed to upvote any of my posts, and also rejected yours.

Thank you for telling me about Ecency. My Mom knew about it but I don't have a phone yet. So I can't use it. I think later. But it sounds good.
My Mom decided to put my calligraphy here so I can see how I did later in the future. I'm always surprised when I get likes. It's unbelievable! I've never thought of getting people to view my writings and get new friends like you. It's awesome.

🤸‍♂️ Ecency also can be used with desktop computer, as well. 🤸‍♂️

Sound good!

This is how hive works!❤ Its good that you made friends here.

Thank you for visiting my writing.
Have a nice day!Hello @missdeli,

Have a nice weekend!

At first glance, Japanese caligraphy seems simple. But that's what I thought until I started studying it. Now my LEVEL of learning japanese calligraphy is a little better. And I can start practicing my writing.
