Hi, folks, I saw and read these amazing articles written by different people. So, thought why not to write about my experience of living in two continents. I am originally from Bangladesh, in South Asia and Living in Serbia for the last 8 years in Serbia, in Eastern Europe. The thing is life in Bangladesh is more crowdy, so less space but you will always find a friend to hang out or you just need to ask. Here its different.

Renting price of Apartments

I live in Belgrade and its the capital city of Serbia. Living cost here is expensive compared to the average salary. Its really hard to have a salary of 500 USD except you are in IT or Finance. But to rent an apartment you need minimum 200 USD and buying food is very expensive as well comparison to Dhaka, Bangladesh. In Bangladesh you can find a place even in less than 100 USD for sure. I live in a house where i have four people and we pay around 600 USD. Its a bit less costly while you share apartment with someone.

I live in this house in first floor and as it is far from the city so the price is a bit less but in city it would be almost 800 USD for a four room apartment. But my apartment looks directly to Danube. That is the reason i really like this place.

Cost of food

Serbia is mostly a country where most of the time its cold. SO, not so many types of vegetables grows and they are pretty expensive. During winter the price goes nuts. The other day I went to buy Brinjals and it was like 2.5 USD, any people will laugh at the price if you compare it with Bangladesh and its probably only 20 cents there. Rice is expensive according to my perspective as Serbia doesnt produce rice and its around 1.5 USD. In Bangladesh it is probably 50 cents.

Fruits can be also expensive during the winter time and not a lot of kind of fruits grows here. The main fruit they have are peach, berries and apples. Apples are around USD through the whole year while berries and cherries can be expensive depending on seasons which is like between 1 USD to 3 USD.
Meat is the main food people eat here. You can find a lot of Barbecue and hotdog selling place all around. The chicken meat is around 3 USD, Turkey around 5 USD, Beef around 6 USD and Pork 3 to $ USD.

Transportation

Here the whole transportation system is private, starting from bus to tram. In Belgrade transportation will cost you around 35 USD per month. If you are a student then you can have it for 12 USD which is a good thing. But if you don't want monthly you have to pay around 1 USD for using transportation an hour and half . They have this system called bus plus where you can press the bus card or you can also use your master card for paying.

But for intercity transportation can cost you from 10 USD to above.

Night life, restaurants and coffee shops

Belgrade is very famous for its night life. People from all around the world comes to Belgrade to enjoy night life. Its cheap as hell if you compare it with USA and Western Europe. The party goes on whole night. I remember a guy whom i met in a club who are from Florida they couldn't believe the prices of the drinks. Although now because of Covid everything is closed. You can have a beer at a price of 1.5 to 2 USD here in night club and drinks around 3 USD. The party starts in the afternoon in summer and ends in the morning.

You will find a nightclub and coffee shops or pubs in almost every corner of the city. You can have coffee for a price of 1.5 USD which is pretty cheap. But for restaurants you cant think of having lunch or dinner below 10 USD except MAC and KFC and cevapi shops.

But the city is beautiful, vibrant, people are amazing and always embrace you with a warm heart. So, i will always suggest you to come visit Belgrade and Serbia.
