I AM A SPEECH THERAPIST FOR MY SON

Guys, are speech therapists popular in your place?

here it's a real BOOM of them!

Almost any kid visits them from the moment he started to say first words!
Of course, first words aren't pronounced perfectly well, but nevertheless, Moms think they just MUST lead kids to speech therapists at once.

Who has started this tendency? When? Why?
it has been lasting for about 10+ years already, and the power of it only increases.

I didn't lead my son to them.
He also had problems with R and L sounds for a long time.
But I took that challenge, found many videos and trainings with exercises for mouth and tongue, and I was his speech therapist.
I am happy that I succeed and he started to say these letters with my help.

Now the tooth specialist advised us to have a speech therapist consultation because of tongue position in the mouth.

Ok.
The speech therapist didn't see any great problems, but she advised us to make articulation exercises for S sound.

My son prounced it, but not very distinctly.
The tongue was too high to say it right. I thought the reason was in absence of some front teeth, but no, the reason was in the tongue.

And again I had to lead him to the speech therapist for these lessons.
But I decided to make it by myself again.
Maybe I will be lucky and successful again;)

She showed us a good training book, and we started our articulation exercises.
For now we've made only 5 lessons.

But the sound S is super nice already!!
My son needed just to UNDERSTAND where the tongue should be. He is grown up enough to control its position.

Letter S needs:
a smile in lips
a fence in teeth
am cold air in exhalation
and No voice

So after some fails he understood what was wrong, and S became perfect!

I do hope that my own lessons and trainings will help him to make his tongue stronger and we won't need the speech therapist's lessons.

Btw they are rather expensive!
About 10$ for 1 lesson, and it's really a high price for my city.

Share your experience, guys!
