Time flies when you're having fun, right! A little while ago I published a regular post blissfully unaware that today was my Hive birthday. I only noticed (EverNoticeThat?) when the notification popped up from hivebuzz at the bottom of that post.
Can you imagine? Happens to the best of us.
Normally I'd have planned an epic post to celebrate the event. But this year my enthusiasm has been tempered by the fact that no one is likely to see it anyway, so no need to make a big fuss about it.
So I'm just going to share a shortened message noting my journey that began as a lurker back in 2016 on good ol' Steemit, before finally jumping in the following year in July, 2017.
A lot of posts have been created in that time and a lot of comments left. The swings in the crypto market resemble the folds in the human brain, going up and down like some mad blockchain roller coaster.
I've learned so much along the way and am glad I had the chance to see many of the current whales back when they were struggling to be seen just as I was.
A big thanks to everyone who took the time to read my posts and leave a comment or upvote. Your support over the years have been the wind beneath my wings, and have helped to propel this community forward.
If you're new to Hive, I'd ask that you approach this platform with an owners mindset. Plan for the long-term, and recognize the cyclic nature of crypto price swings. Create quality content and engage with the community.
I view each post and comment as yet another brick in the big, beautiful home we're building here on Hive. Thanks for 7 amazing years on the best place on the blockchain. Take it easy, have fun, and HIVE ON!

The original Steemit days were insane. All sorts of people writing pro-steemit mindless euphoria propaganda and earning $100s for it! It was a positive feedback loop that created an aura of irrational exuberance. Some were wise enough to convert the Steemit gains into Bitcoin.
I heard about Steemit from a crypto group on Facebook in spring 2016. I was sent a blurb about some guy earning $1500 for one post along with a link to check it out. Took one look at the main page, saw the high-dollar trending posts and said "riiight" and clicked away.
But I came back a few days later, and kept lurking (and learning about Steemit) until I joined the following year. Those were the days! :)
