I will do it, I have already looked at the map for more distant villages and what possibilities are there.
Great, those places are usually people that were raised there. They are happy to see someone new move locally, and there's usually abandoned housing that in decent shape!

That's true out on the homestead. The neighbors I've met were all raised there, and are salt of the Earth!

A village is definitely the best option.
It's important that you get there ASAP, so when things crash; you're a 'local'!
