The tears of a Hustling Child:-An Encounter.

in #hive-reachout3 days ago (edited)

Hello beloved writers, I believe we will learn one or two from this my encounter, there's a saying that says "do to others what you want them do to you" and another says "be the change you wished and want the world to be".

I was on a bus one certain time that should be two years ago travelling back to school from Kogi state to Niger state a journey I never for once enjoyed because of the bad road the federal government didn't attend to and to every student returning to campus after a long strike carried out by the Academic Staff of University Union (ASUU), every student that was affected already knew there would be a delay in the designated time spent during your prescribed program.

During the journey we got to a hold up point due to vehicle check in, I noticed a man at my front sitting close to the window and was stretching his arms calling a little boy hawking cashew nut and groundnut the boy came close and he ask for the price which the boy said loudly "my oga na 5k" in proper terms he meant it is five thousand naira for everything, I wasn't eavesdropping nor paying much attention because I wasn't interested in buying but then I noticed he bought cashew nut worth five thousand and brought out two thousand naira and threw it through the bus window to the little boy as the bus was already moving, because I was sitting behind him and I heard clearly the said amount the little boy said to him, then I had to ask him immediately how much he gave the boy and he said laughing "na 5k o my guy chop cashew nut naw? " He stretched it towards me I refused to collect it.

I told him he gave that boy Two thousand naira instead of Five thousand and I noticed the little boy standing in confusion and wondering what was going on. "I gave him 5k you no see am well" I quickly raised an alarm. I told the driver to stop the bus and pleaded with him to turn back so I could give the child his complete money for his cashew nut, The driver agreed and we turned back to the spot.

While other children were on the road side hustling and struggling to sell their stuff this young boy was at a corner crying, I understood him because half of his goods were gone, he's money wasn't complete. I stepped down from the bus and asked the boy how much was missing and how much was he given, he confirmed to me with a stuttering and sober tone it was two thousand naira and was short of three thousand naira I went back to the bus and I demanded the man to complete the boy's money or return the worth of three thousand naira cashew nut back, the arrogant man began to act like he didn't know what was happening, he claimed he thought it was cheaper and didn't know the price of the cashew nut he bought was five thousand worth... Phew! What a big lier!

He took the two thousand worth of nuts and returned the worth of three thousand back to the boy then I gave the boy an extra two thousand naira cash to put a smile on his face, the boy was so happy he got his goods back and an extra change for the stress the ignorant man put him through and as I entering the bus I saw him stood up cheerfully to begin his hustle whereas the ignorant man refuse to talk to me as we continued our travel and I didn't bother about it. What is good is good and what is bad is bad no sugarcoating.

"As a child while growing up I hawked, so I knew what that child was passing through and how it felt to loose money and returning home to tell stories." If that child's cry reaches God because of what you made him go through you would face a lot of challenges in life, so be careful of what you do to people", I told the Man regardless of his attitude towards me.
Hope you've learnt something? God bless.

This is super amazing man, you stood as a hero for that boy. I'm so excited with what you did, it's because you know what it means to be in that boy's shoes and that's why you didn't hesitate to stand in for him.
I don't know why some people can be so cruel and heartless to cheat individuals suffering to make ends meet for themselves..

P.S: You forgot to select community for your post, hope you take care of that in your next post.. You did a great job @chizzy100
