I tried and my friend accused me of being racist
I think technically you are an ethnic cleanser /s
Your friend is an outsider what tangent did you go off on to get called a racist?
Dan's article was great. I paricularly liked how he focused on the positive actions of the Hive community. He did a very good job to frame Steemit and specifically Justin as corrupt and hostile.
One thing got to me as someone with more knowledge than someone not into Hive or Steem may have, but be keeenly interested in is:
He used the words 'unwittingly' and 'fooling' to descibe the actions of the exchanges. How could one just believe they were tricked (poloniex in particular)? I say this because it is specifically emphasized in the article twice. Also, there is no explaination.
I'm sure he is being diplomatic here which is smart. He also offers hints that it was so spectacularly unexpected. In anycase, I think that particular point needs to be investigated more, especially because someone with no interest in Steem or Hive may have an interest in other cryptos kept on those large exchanges and in their trust.
How did Justin managed to fool two of the smartest people in crypto? As well as, their talented teams. Obviously they may have trusted him, but the whole point of crypto is to avoid trusting anyone. Was there some corruption involved? Or is there more to the story?
To me this is the most important part of the story for cryptocurrencies in general. It deserves to be told. We know not to trust centralized exchanges. They sure are getting tricked and fooled a lot.
In anycase, this is very positive news for Hive. It is a fair and balanced position.
Mostly about the censorship and the acquisition and early threats of destroying the chain to migrate the community and token over to their chain.
I was hoping you were going to say something interesting. =/
This just confuses me more. But it begs me to ask do blockchains have races? Have we switched from the Steem race to the Hive race and was this action discriminatory? I believe it may be at least discriminatory.
Back to reality, I did read some stupid and ignorant stuff from people hopefully just caught up in the heat of the moment, but nothing from you.
Why is that confusing? China being censorship capital, him being chinese, me telling him first thing he did was threaten to acquire and break off the competition for his copy-cat plagiarised chain and then literally censoring a front-end that's meant not to. I'm not surprised he thought I was just being racist/stereotypical first until he realized that's actually what's happening after looking more into it.
What you mean back to reality? lol.
Yeah I know what you mean, people are getting weird thinking it'll pay off cause JS is going to pump them to enrichment.
Wait so is your friend also Chinese, or are you talking about Justin Sun?
If your friend knows Justin Sun is Chinese already, he probably knows quite a bit about Tron and maybe even crypto. But if you just decided to tell him Justin Sun is Chinese, it seems to be what gave him the idea thst this could be about race or at least cultural differences, even though he did most of this while in the US.
I do know China has a different attitude when it comes to copying and plagerising. I believe the term is fast mover.
Actually studying Apple vs Samsung and the whole debate of fast mover vs first mover may help explain or at least provide context about Tron amd other Chinese players in crypto. It doesn't really matter who is first, it matters who is best.
But that does make me wonder about anither point in Dan's article...why didn't Justin just fork Steem?
A split happened which may make some people a ton of money (especially those tricked exchanges) and has successfully divided a long divided community. Anyway, one can hope win-win.
I don't think anyone believes polo was tricked, AFAIK they never even unvoted. I guess there is a slight chance that binance and huobi just had no oversight or care about Steem to check properly what the code was for and if communication came from the same source as x amount of other hardforks someone may have not bothered to do due diligence.
Assuming they were tricked, it's discomforting to think they have barely any oversight or due diligence.
Also, the fact that they waited a few days to 'research' or whatever is disturbing. To think they have millions of dollars of other people's assets and they don't know much about the basics is disturbing.
I guess the only way we can know if they were tricked is to wait and see if they take action in a few months after they power down and sell their assets, as doing so first would be dumb.
This 13 week powerdown for Binance and Huobi may be why most people are still being diplomatic. Saving what you can is important. I've stopped using binance. But oddly in telegram many people are asking when Hive will be listed on Binance. I want them to airdrop their users (they should burn their personal stake as an apology), but honestly, I don't want them to list and trade Hive. Not after their intimate role in the split.
Anyway, I think this is the most relevant point of the whole saga for noncoiners, too. The rest of the story is mostly just a problem for Steem and Hive holders and perhaps a tale of caution.
