I certainly agree that Hive has to be outward-looking. But I'll admit to being something of a Hive enthusiast, so I'm kind of hoping that one day we'll see another Splinterlands effect, where a game brings people onto Hive in large numbers.
I'm not an IT person at all, my specialisations are more around e-commerce, logistics and accountancy, but you might be able to help me understand (ideally in layman's terms !) why Ethgard Legends runs on Ethereum rather than Hive.
I always though a blockchain was basically just a way of storing data; is there something Ethereum can do that Hive doesn't that makes it worth paying gas fees ? Is there something that Hive doesn't do that is necessary to make the game run ? Or is it purely a case of looking at which has the larger user base and going there ? I guess I'm really just trying to understand what it is that stops Hive being a suitable platform for designing or running games.

One of the things stopping hive is people like therealwolf earning hundreds of thousands of hive For Free and dumping each and every last penny, and hence the price. And in crypto, the best advertisement is price.
I'm not trying to start and argument or make enemies. But i am curious why you feel so strongly.
In general therealwolf seems a person who has put a great deal of effort and energy into the hive ecosytem. Dont many witnesses and devs cash in there earnings? Are you saying he is selling more egregiously than others?
It seems that for many years so many have taken post earnings and left Hive.
I guess my POV is any hivian has the right to do as they please with their earnings. 🤷♂️
Of course id prefer people invest and hodl... but i get the feeling Hive will always be a leaky ship.
Have you ever heard the phrase lead by example? He is a fucking top 20 witness, he should have at least some skin in the game instead of cashing every last penny and pretending to be a hive saint just because he developed a shitty game (using hive witness funds) on a different chain that nobody plays.
Great questions. I'll cover these in a seperate post as I'm sure others might have similar questions.
