It was sold on bs to start with, they said they needed to tax the spammers to make them 'more visible', but what they left out was that anybody with less than 160k hive power was about to lose 40+% of the value of their votes.
And, therefore, ~40% the value of the stake they do hold.
They left that little fact out of the conversations entirely.
