Hello and welcome to the first edition of the AquaShop Stock Log. 🐠
In this series we will be showcasing the different types of fish you might find in an aspiring fish shop!
take notes shop owners!
Starting with some of the more commonly found fish we will work our way up to the more sought after species of fish that only an experienced caretaker could handle.
The Goldfish
(Carassius auratus)
Fresh Water
Being one of the most common indoor aquatic pet , we felt this was a perfect starter!
Native to East Asia, the goldfish is a relatively small member of the carp family. It was first selectively bred for color in imperial China more than 1,000 years ago, and several distinct breeds have since been developed.
Goldfish breeds now vary greatly in size, body shape, fin configuration, and coloration (various combinations of white, yellow, orange, red, brown, and black are known).
How big can these little guys grow?
When kept in small indoor aquariums, goldfish tend to stay about 1-2 inches long and usually do not grow longer than 6 inches.
In outdoor ponds, and in the wild, goldfish can grow to about 14 inches! 🐟
Goldfish can be found in almost any fish store if you find yourself needing a new fishy friend.
We plan to show more information on these fish as time comes. More information can be read about different goldfish breeds HERE.
That's all we have for today shop keeps! Keep an eye out early next month for our next post and expect to see more of these Stock logs soon!
