I decided that i would become a dolphin, and started writing every day.
And today, i am a dolphin.

I wanted to create accounts
I had friends i wanted to get onto HIVE, and then i heard about Resource Credits used to create account claim tokens, and thought, well this is for me. But, they were well out of reach for my barely a big fish account. Although i think i was at about 3,000th place in HP numbers, the amount of RC needed was much higher.
It fluctuated at about 11,000,000,000,000 RC, and now that i am at over 10 trillion, an account creation token is over 20 trillion.
I have enough RCs that i can do almost anything i want. Voting, publishing, claiming don't even move the needle. But account creation is/was out of my reach.
Words of advice to smaller accounts
One million vests is the point you really should aim to reach. Where you can easily adjust your voting power per click.
And now, with Resource Credits included in the mix, getting to at least half a million vests is where you can do anything but claim an account. It must be hard as a new account, where you probably barely have enough RCs to make a post every day.
I remember the day i got above one million vests, and activated the sliding bar for vote strength. It really changed my experience. And, at that point i could often vote someone over the 2¢ threshold. And that is really big.
Buying enough HIVE to get to that point isn't that hard. So, you may take that path. Well, getting just a few hundred HIVE after you set up your account really makes life easier. (anyone out there have an exact number you delegate to a new friend freshly joined?)

It is really tough making sure you publish every day. And 366 in a row depends a lot on luck. Do you have internet? Is hive.blog up? There have been a few times where if those things (outages) went on for another hour, i would have had to wait to start again next year.
I am unsure if HiveBuzz should keep the "Yearly Author" badge. There is just too much that can happen in a year which causes you to miss a day. And one time is all it takes to be out of the race.
I remember last year, after i resolved to start writing every day, that then i found that i wouldn't be getting a "Yearly Author" badge because i started a few days late. Well, disappointment for a year may be better then stressing about getting the last 100 days.
We will see if i make it.
