It's AL(H)ive!!!

Congratulations to the Hive team and the community for making this happen. This really proves the power is still with the people and can't be bought. Although it's early to be making such statements, I'm going by the public outcry and community support seen on various social media platforms like twitter and discord. Really impressive.

Unpopular Opinion: To be honest, I was not very happy with how Steem functioned. I tried blogging there but either you need to already have a huge stake to be recognized or should know and be close to whales to get any exposure/upvotes.
Also DPOS social media platforms face the risk of bot armies and unfair flag wars which can be highly disheartening if you are a content creator and some guy with a big stake flags your post because he doesn't like the color of your shirt.

So I'd like to give my suggestions to the Hive community. Glad to hear everyone's thoughts on it.
(disclaimer- I come from a non technical background)

  • Dispute Resolution
I know some if not most are already thinking censorship when they hear dispute resolution but in my opinion if we want to retain users we put a halt on unfair flags/downvotes. I'm not seeking the BP's to censor transactions but the community to take notice of these abuses and fight against it together with everyone's vote weight. What I would suggest is create a Dispute resolution community channel on both Hive as well as discord and have users post their content which was flagged on no solid ground. The community, including the Hive team can take a stand against such bad actors. For this to be successful it requires active engagement from all community members and most of all honest and unbiased reviews. The main purpose of this is to remove the obvious unfair flags from bots for no reason like bernie, etc but people could also expose platform abusers like serial commenting and upvoting of the same.

  • Exposure to New authors
This suggestion is directed more towards people with an established user base and are actively reading new content on the platform. Don't hesitate to give a shout out to new authors whose content you liked. Make a weekly post of your top X new authors who impressed you with their content. This encourages users to create quality posts to get recognition.
Sure you can argue that resteem has the same functionality but when I compare it to twitter, I've got more reach on posts which I add few comments to than just retweeting it.

  • Remove Delegation Bots
Personally, I'm not a fan of delegation bots. The whole purpose of curating quality content is lost with these bots. From my understanding it also creates a marketplace for vote buying so overall standard of posts drop as people look to just make money. Let's not forget Hive is mainly a decentralized social media platform. Let's not make money the focus.

Anyway these are my concerns/suggestions to the Hive tribe.
I only wish and hope for the best to everyone involved.
Stay safe and healthy.
